Day old growler from my last visit at the brewery. This is much better than their Bourbon Barrel offering, a lot more complexity and multi-dimensional. Pours a mottled, amber-brown color with a diminishing, creamy tan head and spotty lacing. Inviting aroma of plums, raisins, earthy mulch and grainy-sweet malts. Malty and smooth, this is a filling brew although not too heavy. Prominent flavors of burnt/roasted malts, toasted bread and organic peat. There is a light smoke quality coupled with mixed berries. Minor hints of chocolate and coffee are present. A heavily malt forward beer with no trace of hops. The best offering I had from MBC during my visit.
