Potential, this beer has it just not quite there yet. Poured flat and lifeless from the tap into a wide mouth glass. Faint signs of carbonation were few and far between, no head, no lacing. Color was a nice light chestnut. Aroma came out considerably once the beer warmed up. Heavy whiskey that gives way to a sweet malt content. Mild body, a touch thin for a hearty Scotch Ale. The sippin' whiskey effect helped out the body issue and in the end this was nice to relax and sip on. Flavor is upfront bourbon that shows you to the roasted, organic, sweet malts hanging out in the back room. Very similar to Kentucky's Bourbon Barrel Ale, in which the effect from the barrel really jumps in the driver's seat and the actual ale is riding shotgun.
