This batch of Veritas 008 is a larger batch of a T.E.A. (or “traditional experimental ale”) that was sent to Stone earlier this summer. The base beer is Mellow Yellow (a.k.a. wine barrel-soured Port Amigo Mexican Lager) with a blend of teas from the Republic of Tea and Lemon Zest.

Not overly impressed from this Veritas. A medley of lightly soured fruits, spiced teas and bread. Flat pour, near lifeless with a ring of lacing around the glass. Nicely tart and refreshing, a touch light even for a sour.

Tasted at the Triple Rock Sour and Barrel Aged Fest on 2/13/2011. This sour ale pours a hazy medium orange gold color from a 750ml bottle. Medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is citrusy and tart, fruity and sweet. A medium to full bodied wild/sour ale. The malts are fruity, peaches and apricots. The hops are herbal. Good lively carbonation. Nice tartness, pervasive, but not in your face. Excellent beer. The tea is more evident in the finish. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly tart.
