Been lookin for this a long time. Beautiful pour - just like the pic without cool backlighting. a little on the sweet side with dark fruits, toffee...a little sugary sweet but fitting. The peatiness won me over instantly. More smoky in the flavor than the nose. Adds a really ncie depth. at $2.50, a steal. A little too high on the residual sweetness with any age on it, still good though.

Dark chestnut colored pour with a collapsing filmy head and lots of spotty lacing. Dark fruits, prunes and raisins with a heavy smoked peat earthiness about it. Bold and relatively smooth. The smoke is a touch too pronounced, and some aging may help blend the flavors together a little better.

4pack from SpeCs .. . Pours a deep ruby .. low head, low lacing .. . dark caramelled fruits, plum, and fruit infused toffee .. . medium mouthfeel, soft .. . medium to medium long finish .. . this is quite a bit better than i thought and even though i love it when american brewers go against style and add smoked malt, this is spot on for style and very tasty!! .. the heat should through a bit, this should age like a champ103 .. . recommended for a nice simple scotch ale quaffer! .. . .
I'm just smoking a fish.

Appearance is a deep bark amber body with a thin tan foamy cap. Aromas of Caramel malts, wood, smoke, booze, sweet sugars, some fruit apple perhaphs? and medicinal peat. Flavor shared all the qualities of the aromas with a sour bite to it. Overall although there were many flavors i feel that they just dont work together as well as they should. It has many pieces of the puzzle its just not quite put together. A decent enough brew.

Comes out of the tap a clear, ruddy mahogany, almost a raspberry color, with a thick, fine-bubbled and persistent light tan head. Strong aroma is mainly apple and pear with an undertone of cloves. Flavor fills the mouth with cloves, apple, pear and caramel, along with hints of cinnamon and horehound. Smooth, firm-bodied texture has a good amount of fizz and leaves a lively, spicy, fruity finish. I call this one more than "wee heavy"!

Its wee heavy alright, downright sticky. Hits the style points for sure, pretty spot on, but like other big eddy beers its kinda plain. Nice deep ruby color, jammy sweet smells and fruity sweet malted flavor with backgrounds of peat and earth.
