Gotta go against the grain on this one. This garnett/ tawny brown ale was the surprise of the night. Malty and rich, with some caramel and fruitiness and light smoke, chocolate and nut. Though they nailed the style, and drinks bigger than 6.5%. I'd buy this often if I could.

Bottle courtesy of kyzr. Pours brown with a tan head. Smells of caramel, pepper, earthy. Tastes of sweet malt, some spice, touches of earthiness. Good.

A dark brown appearance with a moderate beige head. The aroma is nutty with some caramel, dark malts, and bread. The flavor is quite malty with some almonds, chocolate, and caramel. The body is rather thin on this one. Overall it was pretty good.

Initially I noticed the dark red/brown color of this scotch ale but was disappointed once I began to drink this brew. A thin body that had no taste or aroma of smoked malts. That is a bit surprising because scotch ales are known for a faint smoke taste and/or aroma. It could have been a better rated beer if there was a stronger smoke aroma/taste.
