A good, but old czech pils, although the hops had began to break down it was still rather respectable. Some saaz character, golden and great clarity as expected with a nice, fluffy head, not a bad choice.

12 oz bottle, a trade with Summer Wine Fan. Imported as Janacek Premium Czech Lager by Global Village Imports in E's hometown, King of Prussia, PA. Yellow, fizzy beer with a short-lived white head, medium carbonation, and little lacing. Flowery, grassy, spicey (cardomom) aroma. Thinner body lacks the fullness and smoothness of Urquell. Dry aftertaste. The beer seems to evaporate in your mouth, leaving a metallic, can-like taste. Although not labeled in English as one of the six standard brewery products, the flavor and body of Janacek Premium Czech Lager is most like the 5% Extra Light Lager.

This lager pours with a golden amber color, but produces only a thin, white head, which quickly settles. It has a nice, mildly hoppy nose and the body is pleasantly thick, but perhaps a little too tingly with carbonation. The initial rush of carbonation is a bit overpowering and it quickly escapes the glass, producing an uneven experience that is too gassy at first, but a little flat toward the end. The flavor is pleasant, but not especially notable. Overall, this is a decent lager, but not one that I'd highly recommend or go out of my way for.
