A well executed HAMMERHEAD is smooth and dramatic. This beer is no exception. Hammerhead is a big, complex, American-style Barleywine featuring two English caramel malts and four American hops. Hammerhead’s character is enhanced by dry hopping and then aging the deep amber liquid for six months in charred oak rye whiskey and bourbon barrels. Spicy aromas spill from the glass: rich caramel, citrusy hops, bourbon and oak. Layered flavors of toffee, vanilla, brown sugar, spice and rye whiskey lead to a warm and slightly bitter finish. This is a strong ale, meant to be sipped, savored and enjoyed. Additional Information: Hammerhead: A ¼ loop to vertical, airspeed decreases and plane appears to stall. Nose then rotates and plane descends on vertical down line and out with ¼ loop

Pours hazy sepia with a fair ivory head. Rich aroma presents caramel, woody, bourbon, and toasted malt notes. Flavor features bourbon, woody, caramel, toasted malt and sharp hop tones. Texture yields firm body, lively fizz, and a sharp boozy finish. Roll out the barrel roll!

750 ml cork and caged bottle, brought to PA as a gift from my wife for Christmas. Murky, cloudy brown pour with a healthy dose of carbonation and a thick head. Strong dark fruit aromas and musky alcohol. Similar to Great Divide's Barrel Aged Ruffian, I really am put off by the smell. However, I enjoyed that beer and I enjoy this one quite a bit too. In fact, it's top tier. Spicy rye, caramel, toffee, and bitter hops grapple with oak and vanilla to create a wonderful tasting brew. It's hot with alchol, but this is a sipper. I have a fire going and it's 20 degrees outside; perfect weather for this brew.

So complex and so delicious, it it is up there with the likes of Abacus and King Henry (though I'll leave it at #3 in my head til I can have it agian). A beautiful beer, barreled perfectly. So muxh going on, vanilla, oak, bourbon, spice, a touch of bitter in the finish. WOW!
