    Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5

Had a pint of this at the Freeport location, on a quiet and slighty rainy Wednesday afternoon.

Advertised as a "Strong Scottish Ale", this came across to me entirely too simplistic. Seemed to my taste buds to be little more than upping the malt bill by, say, 30-40%, without a corresponding increase in the hop profile.

As such, this is indeed stronger than the average Gritty's Scottish (a beer that I've always enjoyed, surprisingly enough), but is also sweeter and much more unbalanced. Even an increase in the peaty/smokiness would have helped things a little, me'thinks.

I was guessing that this was around 8.5%ABV, until the bartender informed me that it was actually "only" 7.5%. With the mouthfeel and flavor profile sweet and abit askew, it's no surprise that my guestimation was off.

Not a horrible beer, but one that can really use some more backend bitterness to balance out the increased malt load, IMO....
