This American sour is a celebration of 21 years of brewing with Bold Character. This commemorative release opens up with bright, tart, kiwi and citrus notes before mellowing out with a hint of oak and subtle white wine-like character. Soured with lactobacillus and brettanomyces and aged for 9 months in wine barrels. 21st Anniversary is notably complex while retaining a delicate approachability.

    Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 7

Pours somewhat hazy amber with a substantial eggshell head. Aroma delivers tutti frutti, malty and yeasty notes, calling for a taste. Flavor features multiple fruit notes - I get pear, banana and a little strawberry, among other things. Fresh malt, yeast, a snip of butterscotch, and a pinch of wood show themselves as the beer glides over the palate. Mouthfeel offers decent body and nice fizz. Happy 21st, Great Divide - now y’all are legal!
