GB's been fooling around with the barrels a lot over the past year or so...barleywine, Russian Imperial, etc. This one is not the most complex of the bunch (and the prices are getting a little ridiculous $6 for a 7 oz [used to at least be 10 oz]) but it's a solid tasty beer. there wasn't a ton of the oiginal beer left in here, maybe in part because their scotch ale is a little on the light side, but that causes the vanilla and oak to come through substantially, which is nice, with just a hint of smokey peat malt and pepper. this beer was almost like an Imperial Cream Ale...in a good way. too much coin for a "good" beer, though. had another a week later...they must have kegged it right out of the barrels without blending cuz this was not the same beer twice. this one was AWESOME, peppery, bourbon goodness. holy cow! 1st one 3.9, 2nd one 4.4+
