Legend has it that long ago, before the Aztecs, the god Quetz chose the Talarida bat to care for and proliferate the fruit of Opuntia-the tuna, or prickly pear. Since then Fortuna Roja-the red crested vanguard, has warded the little fruit from feasting predator insects and carried its pollen across countries and continents as the cacti have travelled from their source in ancient Tenochtitlan. This stunningly bright-hued beer is our hommage to the efforts of Fortuna Roja, its intense tartness curbed only by the fullness imparted by the tunas during its long torpor in oaken barrels.

Had on tap at Freetail and a few times in bottle, aging one for a few years to see where it goes( oh ya, that didn't happen).. . Pours a crazy cherry red.. . decent foam, light spits of lacing .. . tart.. . flavours of cherry, wet hay, fake powdered sugar cherry koolaid( you known, prison style ), cherry skin, and what i'm guessing to be prickly pear .. . a milder sour, but enjoyable i really dug, especially from the the 'special edition' 30ml bottle, you got me right- an amazing beer and I know one thing...We find that crazy typewriter, we'll find our kidnapper..
