Sheol is a deep mahogany colored American Barleywine that begins with a slight fruity aroma from the dry hopping. It has a rich and full-bodied malty sweetness balanced by a generous load of centennial hops. The complex flavors of caramel, bread, and dark fruit are balanced and masked behind the bitterness from the alcohol and the hops. This will subside over time and the intense malt flavors will step forward. Sheol is the Hebrew word denoting the "abode of the dead"; the "underworld", "grave" or "pit".

This poured a dark amber color with a white head. The aroma is alcohol, dark fruit, and toffee. The flavor is rather sweet with some caramel, toffee, cherries, raisins, and some alcohol showing. The finish is also rather sweet. Overall a very good barleywine.
