Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 8
Sampled at the Drake’s Barrel House on 2/18/2012 and at Beer Revolution on 2/4/12 (as Scorched Earth). This Imperial Stout pours am eclipse black color from the tap. Medium sized tan foamy head with decent lacing and nice retention. The aroma is chocolate and coffee, smoky and roasty. A medium to full bodied Imperial Stout. The malts are chocolate, coffee, smoky and roasty. The hops are earthy and herbal. Lots of burnt/roasty malt with mild smoke. Decent carbonation. The smoke works well with the roasty malts. Mouthfeel s full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is bitter.
