Sampled at the Bistro 7th Annual Barrel Aged Festival on 11/10/2012. This stout pours a dark brown color from the tap. Small sized off white foamy head. The aroma is chocolate, coffee, red wine and wood, with some tartness. A medium to full bodied stout. The malts are roasty, chocolate and coffee. The hops are herbal and earthy. Nice carbonation. Lots of wood, wine and cherry flavors. The tartness seems more from the merlot than any funky stuff. Very nice beer/wine flavor mix. Excellent sipping beer. Nice tasting back to back with the Pinot She Didn’t. Totally different tasting beer yet, strangely somewhat the same. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter and a touch tart.
