This blended barrel-aged red sour was brewed in celebration of Denver Beer Co’s sixth anniversary! A total of 10 separate batches of beer were soured and barrel aged in a variety of vessels including stainless steel, red wine barrels, tequila barrels, and bourbon barrels. The base beers included Saisons, Red Ales, an Imperial Red, and a Kolsch. Aging occurred from a range of 1-27 months(yes, some was brewed in the spring of 2015!). Cherries were added to a portion of the blend to enhance the fruity complexity. The barrels were then blended to achieve a final beer that was complex, fruity, oaky, and sour, yet quite drinkable and refreshing
