AKA Moord & Doodslag. Pours opaque chocolate with a fair beige head. Aroma yields sweet caramel, chocolate, roast malt, hints of coffee and molasses. Flavor gives up roast malt, mocha, woody and molasses tones, sweet but not cloying. Texture provides firm, smooth body and peppy fizz. Get your Russian on!

Note: This beer is described as an Imperial Stout. While the bar I was at has been in contact with the brewer and it's rep in Canada due to the possibility of quality issues, the brewer insists that what's in the bottle is the proper beer. The beer poured a solid reddish-broen colour with a thin tan coloured head. The aroma was yeast, dark fruits, and grains. The mouthfeel was medium bodied, with above average carbonation. The flavour was tart fruit and yeast, with some graininess. Despite what the brewer says, I believe that the beer I had was a sour Belgian Strong Ale and not an Imperial Stout as the bottle/label/brewer suggests. I have graded it as what it was supposed to be. -

Dark cola brown with a disappointing cap.....just a sad bubble ring floating around the edge of my glass. Aroma is excellent rootbeer, black cherry, cold coffee, cigarette ash.......aroma is losing it awesomeness the longer smell. Whats up with this beer? seems almost flat, very cold and watery feeling. Taste is strong but not intense. Basically every thing I said I found in the aroma is in the taste. Beer is disappointing with out being bad. I'm going to re-review this beer with the other bottles I bought this one seems off.

1st bottle was Cease & Desist followed by a 2nd bottle with the Disputin label. Solid brew all around, plenty of rich roasted malts with hints of chocolate, toast, cereal, coffee and mixed fruits. On the sweeter side of the spectrum, but it worked for me.

currently named Disputin thanks to North Coast: very sweet aroma...dark fruit, tar, molasses, licorice. a little too sweet for me, but it's flavor is better. lots of the same things, but not so in your face. pretty smooth for 11%, but you can tell the alcohol is there. i liked it, but for the price their are more enjoyable impy's out there. 7/11 now called Cease and Desist. Pretty funny if you ask me, but as far as the beer goes...what the hell? pours dark brown (was pitch black last time) and is thinner. none of the extreme aspects of last time. is the consistency an issue at de molen. if it weren't on the label i wouldn't beleive this was the same beer. old score 4, new score 3.5...avg 3.7.

On tap at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Also sampled bottled, but the bottle lacked carbonation, so my rating is for the tap version. Black (= very dark brown) colour, moderate tan head. Very nice aroma and flavour with roasty notes, coffee, dark chocolate and liquorice - also some vinous notes with hints of oak and dark dried fruits. Jolly good stuff!

Bottle: Poured a deep black color ale with a super huge foamy dirty brown head with great retention and very good lacing. Aroma is nice mix of lightly sweet black chocolate with some hints of fry coffee and well balance roasted malt. Taste is also a very well balance mix between some black chocolate, dry coffee and lightly bitter roasted malt with a good dose of sweetness. Hops don't play a huge role here and it is just perfect the way it is. Body is not totally full for the style with some great carbonation and no sign of the alcohol. Very well done and I still don't understand what this is not rated higher.

I picked this dandy up on a recent trip to a Binny's in Chicago (Binny's has EVERYTHING). This is a dark brown beer that comes equipped with a thin tan coloured head. The aroma is roasted malt, chicolate, and a hint of yeast. The flavour is suprising, I was expecting there to be more of a alcohol taste, but there wasn't. Bitter, coffee, and some more yeastiness.
