Courtesy of after4ever. Pours deep dark amber with thin mocha head. The aroma is musty dark fruity esters and black licorice. Soon, after a bit of warming perhaps, a velvety dark chocolate note rises up mingling with a faint earthy – tobacco – smoke note. The taste is smooth and near silky. It starts with a mixture of chocolate, prunes, dates, plums, more chocolate and nuttiness. By midway the sweetness grows as a velvety dark chocolate note joins in and carries to the finish. As the finish approaches the earthiness tobacco smoke wells up just to the surface bringing the experience to a close. YUM!!

On tap at Anchorage Brewing De Molen Tap Take-over: Poured somewhat black with some brown hues, head was tan. Aroma was dark fruit, licorice, boozy, and rich. Taste was a semi sweet forward fruit, roasted malt, chocolate shards, and coffee bean edge. Very complex.

AKA Moord & Doodslag. Pours opaque chocolate with a fair beige head. Aroma yields sweet caramel, chocolate, roast malt, hints of coffee and molasses. Flavor gives up roast malt, mocha, woody and molasses tones, sweet but not cloying. Texture provides firm, smooth body and peppy fizz. Get your Russian on!

Note: This beer is described as an Imperial Stout. While the bar I was at has been in contact with the brewer and it's rep in Canada due to the possibility of quality issues, the brewer insists that what's in the bottle is the proper beer. The beer poured a solid reddish-broen colour with a thin tan coloured head. The aroma was yeast, dark fruits, and grains. The mouthfeel was medium bodied, with above average carbonation. The flavour was tart fruit and yeast, with some graininess. Despite what the brewer says, I believe that the beer I had was a sour Belgian Strong Ale and not an Imperial Stout as the bottle/label/brewer suggests. I have graded it as what it was supposed to be.Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7
Dark brown with no foam head. Aroma is stark bklack coffee, toffee and bitterness. So is the taste, srtong bitter beer with coffee. Long dark bitter chocolate / coffee aftertaste. (Velp 201212)

Dark cola brown with a disappointing cap.....just a sad bubble ring floating around the edge of my glass. Aroma is excellent rootbeer, black cherry, cold coffee, cigarette ash.......aroma is losing it awesomeness the longer smell. Whats up with this beer? seems almost flat, very cold and watery feeling. Taste is strong but not intense. Basically every thing I said I found in the aroma is in the taste. Beer is disappointing with out being bad. I'm going to re-review this beer with the other bottles I bought this one seems off.

1st bottle was Cease & Desist followed by a 2nd bottle with the Disputin label. Solid brew all around, plenty of rich roasted malts with hints of chocolate, toast, cereal, coffee and mixed fruits. On the sweeter side of the spectrum, but it worked for me.
