Rated Sept. 2009. Growlered at the brewery and pouring out deep brown with mahogany edges and tan head. The aroma is roasty, coffee, chicory, some sweet nuttiness and faint chili peppers. The taste begins both sweet with nuttiness and roasty with dark roasted coffee and dark roasted malts. Soon after notes of chicory and mild levels of chocolate and chili peppers emerge and bring a soothing complex balance to the taste. The dash of chocolate and faint chili pepper heat linger with dark roasted coffee on a smooth velvety carpet ride into the finish and after taste.
