Thick beastly gold waxed 22oz bomber (11.5% ABV) pours with a slightly murky brown to amber body that supports a nice tan head of foam. The aroma offers up smooth sweet malts, prunes, sweet raisins and a thin spicy licorice sensation flowing into a touch of molasses and toffee off in the background. The taste delivers a smooth red carpet of slick drool inducing richness. Yum! It starts with slick sweet malts and a sense of molasses sweetened roasted malts just as sweet dark fruity esters consisting of prunes and fig and raisins rise up toward midway. Into the finish smooth sweet molasses and toffee and other luscious residual sugars help close this out. In the background from time to time lurks a malt sweetened pine hoppiness that really helps lend further depth and balance here. Solid smooth sipper. I’m delighted I have about 18 more ounces to go.

2015 Vintage bottle from the LCBO. A little unfiltered, hazy deep amber colour with a small beige head that fizzes away quickly. Aromas of dark fruits with dates, plums and mild raisins. Caramel malt base and alcohol is present. The taste has these fruits, but not too strong, not too sweet. All because of the hops, which are stronger then most Barleywine I have tried. Some good bitterness in the finish creating some light dryness. Hints of rustiness from these hops. Seems to go away with time. A hoppier Barleywine that is decent.

600ml bottle from LCBO. Pours an average size foamy bubbly beige head but doesn't stick around very long. Lacing is ok. Has a cloudy dark amber appearance with some ruby highlights. A bit of sediments are visible. Aromas of rye, barley, roasted malts, caramel. Flavours are fairly varied as well, somewhat similar to aromas. But also some strong notes of resin, spices, dried fruits, caramel again. The alcohol is quite noticeable but is not offensive in any way. Subtle woodsy smokey notes. Can almost be a sipping beer, but can also easily be enjoyed in normal gulps. Wouldn't recommend chugging in larger quantities. Full bodied. Slick and drying mouthfeel. Perfect winter warming drink but also a one beer rating night kinda brew. :p

On tap at Alibi Room. Big, burly, barleywine. Some head, but not much, no lacing. Golden, deep, touch of crimson, like Monster Ale. Flavour profile also similair to Monster, burnt orange peel, pine, some hops, something deep and thick, fig syrup shows up in a brief appearance. Nice.

Clear, dark, like I think a BW should be. Lighting is funny here (@ brewpub), but a really nice orange/amber colour. Head was there, but now it's just some bubbles. Impressive. Gotta be 10%. It's turning my stomach lining into cat-attacked curtains. Little bit of spice, touch of gutrot, decently hopped, pretty good.
