Hops, hops and more hops I tell you what. English strong ale?? I really don’t think so, not even sure why the word winter is in the name. Copper-red with a very nice cap, thick very sticky lacing that was still coating my glass the next morning. Aroma is a peachy pine hop bomb with an under lying malt of toffee sweetness. I thought being a “winter Ale” (Brad says sarcastically) there would be spice and heavy roast malt but there was not. It still smells good and I want to drink it but everything about this aroma is an IPA. Taste is thick, with pine/grapefruit hops and heavy roasted malts. Still zero spice, vanilla, nut, or even coffee what is what you expect from a winter ale. Brew as a long lasting sweetness. Resin, almost a heavy bread taste but not really are showing up now. Sigh……. Good beer I could drink this any time just not what I was expecting given the label on the brew. Marks based on just a beer and no style, if i where to go by style this would be a 1.7-2.5.

The worst offering from Central City, generally no taste. Fairly malty, no nuance to falvour. Pretty much a more malty version of the pale ale, and a bit sweeter. Flavour profile is simple, but there are no poor elements. Nose is simialir to the granville island lions winter ale (2010). Good for the price, would serve at a party for nearly beer peeople, and perhaps for beer people too.
