This NW style sour blond ale was barrel aged for 28 months before spending an additional two months on 300+ pounds of Black Cap raspberries: think Nouveau Boujoulais with blackberries. Vinous then sweet aromas of tart blackberries are the first to be noticed. Sharp, acidic notes of tart berries and leather on the palate lead to a sharp, dark berry presence and a finish with a prolonged dry fruit note. This limited draft-only offering is a blender favorite.

2016 bottle from Knightly on steep discount; 7.6%. Stemless at the hotel. Hazy, deep, dark garnet color with a splash of lace. Deeper, beautiful matte raspberry syrup on the second pour. Not a ton of head. Black raspberry nose, Pinot noir, a touch of vinegar, a hair of veg. Juicy, sweet-tart, super vinous, raspberry -lime flavor. Hint of itchy malt & oak. Very slight cider vinegar on the tail. Not full blown sour like some of their other offerings, or at least it died some over time. Slight texture, strong acid, medium high tart, good bite, some natural sulfites. Lovely with age.

Oct. 2018: 750 ml corked & caged bottle. ABV is 7.7%. Deep red to purple colour, moderate pink head. Distinct aroma of ripe and over-ripe raspberries, also notes of farmhouse and oak. Very sour flavour with an abundance of raspberries, also notes of lemons and oak. Astringent finish.

The brewer description is pretty dead on here, though I think the boujoulais works better in this barreled brew than it did as a wine. Tart, vinous, sweet, thicker and slightly less carbonation. Yet another nice bouquet from Cascade.
