This unique brew 7.2% ABV is American whiskey barrel-aged for months. It is offered in a 750ml bottle and is made once a year for a limited time release! Its complex character evokes notes of caramel, chestnut, strong malt, vanilla, subtle hops and of course, whiskey. It has a surprisingly smooth quality and goes well with barbequed food, a rich Holiday season turkey dinner – or even better – on its own.

Bottle: pours a clear copper colored ale in the glass. Big puffy cap doesn’t last but laces well. Interesting nose, quite a powerful blast of smoky-oak aroma, sweet toffee malts some earthy hops and a fairly detectable alcohol note. Kind of thin for such an old ale but the character has potential if allowed to develop. Flavor is sweet caramel malting in front balanced with ample hopping, then a bunch of smoky-oak whisky tastes, hints of vanillin and other oak tannins but the fusel alcohol and corn whisky tastes overpower them....goes to a long warming finish where alcohol gets a bit hot. Not a bad attempt at an oaked old ale but needed more time to develop....I will be cellaring a bottle I will open in 6 months to see if my theory is right on this ale. Lots of potential but too young now.
