We set out to craft a beer that could only be made in Houston - something that couldn't be replicated anywhere else on the planet, even in a laboratory We smoked our malt at Beaver’s, Goode Company and Rockwell’s Tavern up in Cypress, and blended those malts as the base for a strong scotch ale. Houston’s BBQ scene is literally infused in the malt of this beer. Look for huge caramel, brown sugar, molasses & toffee flavors in the mouthfeel. Then the smoke subtly cuts the sweetness with a savory balance on the finish

Pours hazy, barely translucent mahogany with a thin pale buff head. Aroma features woody and smoky tones. Flavor delivers caramel, smoky, fruit and fresh malt notes. Body is OK, fizz is good. Don’t let this one get bayou!

Opaque orange brown with small light brown foam head. Aroma is kind of hard to place, almost nonexistent. Taste is smooth, bit sherry like. Long lasting aftertaste. (Houston 201310)
