Abbey beer, ruby colour, top-fermentation beer, outstanding owing to its soft flavour and fantastic aroma. This beer’s name comes from the French Capuchins, who had a monastery in Budel at the beginning of the last century. Type of glass: goblet-shaped glass on base.

On tap, as Capucijn Dubbel, at Cardinal, Stavanger. Brown colour, white (or slightly off-white) head. Pleasant malty aroma and flavour of caramel, brown kandij sugar syrup and dark dried fruits. Low bitterness, smooth mouthfeel.

Dark ruby with brownish foam head. Aroma is sweet caramel, taste is same with some bitterness and wood tones. Did go well with baked potatoes and beans, but drinking this stand-alone wouldn't know. (Velp 201205)

Bottled. Reddish amber colour, mediumsized off white foamy head, laving. Fruits, cocos, caramel and coffee in aroma. Flavour is light roasted malts with some bitter hops and fruits. Also alcohol noteable in flavour, especially the finish. Aftertaste is sweet alcohol and old black coffee.

Last of the Budels brew, part of the 6 pack I got from the LCBO. None of the other brews got my attention, let's see with this one. Pours a darker colour, like caramel and cola together. Head is tanned, foamy and fizzy, with good retention and very nice lacing. Lively carbonation. The nose had some roasted malts, molasse and hints of Oud Bruin scents, right after pour. It disappear a few minutes after. Medium-bodied palate. Very pleasant taste with some caramel, toffee, raisins and roasted malts. By far, the best Budels, and the only one that is worth trying.

Well Ill be damned, a good Budels product! This is something else! Quite the surprise. Ive already concluded them the worst brewery ever, but it seems they have a saving grace! A sticky, candy like beer, tarnished brown in appearence, strong flavour - mucho delicioso! Not bad...surprising though

Bottle: Poured a light dark beer with an average head with very little retention. Aroma is a bit weak with some malt being noticeable. Taste is different then some previous Alt I tried before and includes some roastiness and some bitterness at the ends. There is an overall watery feeling that leave a disappointing taste in my mouth which is deceiving since this one had promises as opposed to other Budels products.
