I really liked this ale. It is smooth and smells nice. Pours nice and it is a delight in the department of flavour and taste. It is an accomplished beer that I wish I could try again.

Bottled@Poirotti's Skotoberfest 2007. Nutbrown colour with mediumsized white bubbly head which vanishes quite quickly. 'Sweet malts along with some fruity hoppy notes. Flavour is sweet malts along with some grassy bitter hops. Also some slight sour wooden notes in it. A bit watery.

I was very excited to sample this brew as I really had enjoyed all of the prior Broughton products I'd tried. Definitely turned out to be the "one bad apple" in my opinion. This beer was skimpy in every regard. Aroma was average - a bit of light malt like you'd get in US macro brews. Color was a decent amber color, but the head was less than inspiring. Mouthfeel was thin and watery - not generally good things in a Scottish Ale. Flavor was bland and malty with almost no finish and aftertaste. In some ways it's worse than the mass produced brews because it costs more.

bottled, from Fête de la Bière 2005, Lausanne - pours a clear rd-amber colour, the initial foam quickly reduces, the aroma is deceptively discrete with just a hint of malt and red berries going through the limit of perception, a touch of sweetness, a rather high carbonation and an honorable bitterness, the finish is dry, short with a light flowery hoppiness - deeply unexciting
