Brewed in September of 2012, our Jong Kriek (young Kriek) is based on our dark abbey ale, Local 2. We suffused it with whole cherries in barrels for five months, then re-fermented in the bottle with a blend of Champagne yeast and Brett.

Bottle from Mike Adams, general manager and chef extraordinaire at The Market in Maryvile, TN. Light brown rosy pink pour with a short bubbly head, little lacing but who cares. HUGE cherry and sour funky nose right away, tart, wild, Belgian yeasts, more sour cherries in the lingering sour, acidic tart cherry palate with a honeysuckle floralness and then even more funk. As I've stated before, I'm a sucker for cherries. This rare bird absolutely delivers the goods. HUGE huge huge thanks to Mike for holding on to this Bastard Son of Garrett Oliver for almost a year. Stunning ale.
