Beginning as a small brewpub focusing on quality food and drinks, Brickstone has burgeoned into a brewer of national acclaim, garnering numerous accolades, including gold medals at the Great American Beer Festival and the World Beer Championship. 2016 marks their 10th Anniversary, and they’ve brewed up one big beauty of a beer. Pop the cap and you’re immediately hit with sticky hop resin mixed with toffee and dark fruits. Waves of caramel malt break thunderously against a mountain of pine and citrus, culminating in a long and lasting bittersweet finish. Drink this classic American style barleywine fresh in celebration of the IBU, or lay it down in your cellar for a warming treat amidst the frigid months to come.

Pours a reddish hued brown color (looks like iced tea), with a small tan head. Little to no lacing. Aromas of red wine, booze and sweet caramel malt. Flavors include sweet malt, burnt sugar and wine with a boozy finish. Not detecting any hops or dark fruits as I expected. Brickstone makes some very good beers, especially their APA's, which I have reviewed, but their 10 Anniversary Beer was a bit of a disappointment.
