Brekeriet Cassis is a sour ale mainly fermented with Brettanomyces yeast. Black currant is added during the secondary fermentation and this yeast loves berries which is shown in the fantastic taste of the beer. Brekeriet Cassis is refermented in the bottle which gives a thin layer of yeast at the bottom of the bottle.

375 ml capped and corked bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 6.0%. Red colour, large to moderate off-white / pinkish head. Aroma of blackcurrants, brettanomyces / farmhouse and lactic acid. Moderately sour flavour, notes of blackcurrants and brettanomyces. Not too sweet.

Pours barely translucent mahogany with a decent eggshell head. Aroma features berry and toasted malt notes. Flavor delivers tart berry, sweet berry and malty tones with a hint of hops. Mouthfeel presents OK body and peppy fizz. Gotta love the Swedes!
