Celebrated review 200 from this brewery. Enjoyed at the Hull Brewpub with a nitro stout faucet, February 23, 2023. Dark brown colour with minimal copper highlights. The head is beautifully creamy, beige, with very nice retention and full creamy lacing. Malty aromas with a blend of caramel, chocolate and roasted malts, giving dark fruits, butterscotch, cacao notes. Hints of anise and alcohol. Very smooth, creamy, silky and oily mouthfeel with some building dryness in the end. Expecting a rich taste, but well-blended between all of the malts, hop finish, touch of licorice and Bourbon alcohol. Wow! What and amazingly smooth English Barleywine with so much going, but all so well balanced.
