Rated July 2012. 22oz bomber pours a nice looking mahogany with 3 minute long tan head. The aroma offers up some roasted malts, chocolate malts and spicy black licorice as well as spicy hops. The taste is similar with some roasted malts, chocolate malts, sweet molasses, a good bit of black licorice and some pine hop goodness. Behind these notes is a mild sense of earthy spice dank like hoppiness. It ends with a modest roasted maltiness and a firm level of pine hops heading into the after taste. Pretty nice.

A medley of flavors tie into this strong ale, not quite capturing the essence of any definitive style. Balanced yet leaning towards a soft bitterness with some muted floral hops, tons of mixed fruits and a sweet roasted, toasted malt content with accents of nuts and chocolate.

really nice pulling together of 13 different types of malt in this beer, including two distinct chocolate malts. The hops, while agressive, seemed a bit muddled, like maybe a comobo of these 13 was a bit much. loved the bite of this beer...loved the flavor, especially the chocolate roasty sweetness, and liked the aroma (shows a little more alcohol than the flavor). not a world beater, but pretty nice.

Ruby brown body with a tall noisy crown floating on top. Very fragrant, dark fruit, mild hints of coffee, strong perfume, big molasses, some peppery notes. Taste is intense!! HAHAHAHAHA didn't realize this was 11% when I cracked it open....whoops. Big sweet malts, with molasses, pepper, almost to much alcohol burn. Some smokey leather, liquorish after taste, prunes, other good stuff, and more flavour then you can shake a stick at. Wow what a great brew.

A rick cherry brown colored beer with a big loose bubbled sudsy light beige head. There some hang time and a moderate ringlet and light film dusting. Chocolate, dark fruit, molasses, roastiy complexity This one has so many aspects and so well done. Full bodied.

Aroma and flavors of the typical stone hops at first, plenty of spicy earthy hops, chewy hops and a bit of pine as well, with hints of citrus, dark malts, a bit of roast with some creamy coffee, and even a hint of booze, especially as it warms. Mouthfeel is thick and chewy, ok carbonation. Overall there is alot going on, listed as a strong ale, but based on flavors i would call this a imperial black ipa, a nice beer though.
