Sampled on 8/13/2010. This barley wine pours a semi cloudy dark amber color from a 33cl bottle. Small sized white foamy head. The aroma is fruit, sweet, oak, must and wine. A medium bodied barley wine. The malts are fruity and oaky. Lots of red wine flavors, mostly oak and tannin, with some must flavors later in the taste. The hops are herbal. Lots of flavors going on here. The beer is way more wine like than beer like, very much like a cross between the two. Little to no carbonation, yet the flavors do not seem to suffer much. Fairly smooth taste, with just a little alcohol bite. An interesting beer, kind of hard to classify, but definitely interesting. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste slightly sweet.
