Black Bear is a mild dark ale, with a hint of blackberries and currants. It is 5% alcohol and the very dark colour hides the "mild" drinkable taste.

Tasted at work the other day. It had been a while. Obvious crystal malt shows up, malt, some sweet cherry like malt and some more slightly overbearing sweetness. It is more dark and brown that I expect, and it looks good. On tap the head retention is decent. Overall is seem unbalanced, and too sweet for multiple drinks imo. Mouthfeel is decent, just shy of medium. Better than a rickards but to simple to be given any decent points.

Best cheap beer around, and it's local. Unspectacular, but a perfectly enjoyable porter-style ale. Hints of currents and blackberries, a good batch can be quite fruit favoured. My friend liked it so much, he said it tasted like cherry pie.
