Marld is a traditional ruby coloured Mild Ale. Using a mild ale malt, which is slightly darker than the standard pale ale I also use an amber malt, crystal malts, chocolate malt, roasted and flaked barley in the grist ... plus just a little bit of Rauchmalz to give a litle bit of smokiness. The hops are the American Galena hop which gives us lots of dark fruity flavours and the good old English Goldings hop. The hop count is very low ... just as it should be, as well as the strength, a modest 3.4%. Winner of the Bronze at the 2005 S.I.B.A. awards at Bedford, always a popular mild at festivals.

Cask@GBBF2008. hazy deep brown colour with big off-white head. Aroma is bigtime diacetyl. Flavour is diacetyl meeting fruits and wood. Also some slight chocolate, but diacetyl is the main thing...
