A perennial favorite! This is a very complex ale with alcohol approaching wine-like strength. Rich and intense malt and hop flavors that partner perfectly with cold winter evenings and cigars! Occasionally aged in slightly "wet" bourbon barrels!

Glad to see this one was on tap during my recent visit. Body is a rich dark brown color with a 1" beige head. Huge malty sweet aroma, thick with carmael malts, slightly mollasses-like....brown sugar, no noticeable alcohol. Flavor has some dried fruits/raisins, caramel, very sweet, light alcohol burn. Really nice b/w.

not as hoppy as i like in the american style, falling somewhere between an english and west coast. very solid brew though. dark in color, with a pleasant but subdued aroma, great body, and nice malty, oak & caramel backbone. 1/10-this batch was all caramel and booze. very one dimensional and really not that good. hope it's just an off batch or ages really well. 4+ for previous years, low 3 for this year's.
