Ale brewed with cherries and aged in wine barrels This barrel-aged wild ale is named for our San Francisco neighborhood and pays tribute to the Flanders Red style of beer. Aged in wine barrels, this lightly tart ale is brewed with California Rainier cherries using a house blend of wild yeasts, bacteria and SF sourdough yeast. Pair this complex ale with ripe figs & blue cheese or seafood bouillabaisse.

12.7 oz bottle, batch 2. Pours slightly hazy copper orange with a medium fizzy white head that quickly goes to a thin film.

The aroma is subdued - medicinal cherry with a little butyric acid.

The flavor is super tart and acidic cherries with a little off bitterness in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with low carbonation.

Overall, very tart and acidic cherry sour. Not as good as I remember from on tap.

Flanders Red (already a favorite style) with a CA twist - I like it! a little lighter than expected in color. The sourdough yeast, cherries, and light oak and wine dominate the aroma and flavor. Moderately sour, very complex. I LOVE the yeast used here. Unique within the style.
