In 2010 we return to the style that was chosen for the very first AleSmith Decadence®, an English-style Old Ale. Abundant malty flavors and the perfect balance of English hops define this classic style. Four specialty yeast strains and the use of tradition brewing sugars create a rich and tasty flavor profile. AleSmith Decadence® pleases and tantalizes the palate in a way that has become the hallmark of AleSmith’s premium ales. English Style Old Ale In 1995, a momentous happening occurred in San Diego:AleSmith was forged. In the ten years since then, we have had the pleasure of enjoying the fruits of our labor and we have been fortunate to develop a faithful following of friends. We are commemorating this decade with a very special brew: Decadence Anniversary Ale. We deeply appreciate your support and we hope you join us in our "Decadent" decennial celebration.

Shared bottle at local tasting, as AleSmith Decadence Anniversary Ale, English Style Old Ale (2010), thanks to gunnar. Dark brown colour, low beige head. Intense malty aroma, notes of molasses, hints of oak and dark dried fruits. Rich and warming mouthfeel. Rich and intense malty flavour, notes of molasses and dark dried fruits. Decent hops in the finish.

a little booze and toasted malt on the nose. the hops are barely there but provide a touch of balance, but this is definitely a malt driven brew. another that is pretty good within the style, but not a standout for alesmith. it lacks their trademark hoppiness, which fits this style. again, alcohol more apparent in the nose, but hidden from the palate. well done though not THEIR best. It's good to be spoiled :)
