Unexpectedly, this barleywine is quite approachable. The complexity of the beer brings forth flavors of ripe pomme fruit, fig and date with rich caramel to complement. Despite this, the finish is moderately dry, preventing it from becoming cloyingly sweet.

Dark amber with a white head. Lots of caramel and toffee in the nose. Flavor is sweet with some nutty chocolate flavor going on. This is like a big brown ale. Aftertaste is all about sweet. Overall I dig it.

Taps clear mahogany with a good buff head. Aroma delivers sweet caramel and a hint of fruit. Flavor features caramel, toasted malt, fruity, and subtle woody hop character. A bit sweet, but enjoyable. Mouthfeel is firm and viscous, fizz is OK. Paradise for a barleywine lover.
