276 | Nickel Brook Bolshevik Bastard Imperial Stout | Canada | Imperial Stout | 4.9
Aroma: 10 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 10 | Flavor: 10 | Overall: 10 This is one amazing stout and was voted one of the world’s best a few years back, and it’s not hard to know why. The blackest pour imaginable is topped off by a creamy brown head. Aromas of coffee, roasted malt, licorice and vanilla fill the air while the flavour is nicely balanced with a nice bitter finish and no aftertaste. |

277 | Nickel Brook Old Kentucky Bastard Imperial Stout | Canada | Imperial Stout | 4.4
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 9 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9 This is the Bolshevik Bastard in Bourbon Barrels, however as I’m not a fan of bourbon flavoured beer, it does nothing for me. It’s still a dark black pour, but aside from that the bourbon and oak notes take away from the stout experience for me. |

280 | BrewDog Tokyo* | United Kingdom | Imperial Stout | 3.1
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 A powerful beer, but one of the thinnest watery stouts I have ever come across. It pours a motor oil black, but with a thinner consistency than say a DFH World Wide Stout. No head at all. Alcohol and roasted malt dominate the aroma, but one can also notice hints of vanilla, coffee, and molasses. The flavour is very sweet with more than a hint of alcohol. Not very balanced. Another epic failure by BrewDog |

281 | Deschutes The Abyss | United States | Imperial Stout | 3.3
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 I had a hard time getting this, and now that I have it, I feel like I've wasted my money. A decent Imperial Stout, but not a great one. Not a lot of complexity in the aroma or flavour, and certainly nothing that makes it stand out from the crowd. Very black with a creamy brown head. Typical stout aroma with roasted malt, coffee, and vanilla. The flavour is more of the same. No wow factor here. I think Thomassova hit it on the head when he said 'overrated'. At best...average aside from colour! |

282 | Grand River Russian Gun Imperial Stout | Canada | Imperial Stout | 4.1
Aroma: 10 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 9 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 Went to a Grand River tasting at a friend's house this past weekend and found a lot of very good beers, but nothing truly outstanding. A jet black beer with a creamy dark brown head. Lots of roasted coffee in the aroma, a little vanilla, and a little chocolate. Creamy to the tongue with ample bitterness from the coffee and dark chocolate notes. |

283 | McAuslan St. Ambroise Stout Impériale Russe / McAuslan St. Ambroise Russian Imperial Stout | Canada | Imperial Stout | 4.6
Aroma: 10 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 9 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9 If there is one thing that McAusland does well, it is stouts. Between their world class Oatmeal Stout and this, one would be quite content! Blackest stout in Canada with lots of roasted coffee and chocolate notes in both the aroma and flavour. Great body! |

284 | Fuller's Past Masters Double Stout | United Kingdom | Imperial Stout | 4.5
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 9 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9 One of the 6 beers brought in as part of the Fuller's release at the LCBO. This is the easiest drinking Impy Stout I have ever had. A deep brownish colour with a thin head. Lots of chocolate and cocoa in the aroma and flavour and absolutely no hints of alcohol. |

285 | Muskoka Double Chocolate Cranberry Stout | Canada | Imperial Stout | 3.3
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 Large bottle with bothe old name and new name displayed. A solid brown pour with purplish hints. Cap starts out huge and dissipates quickly. Lots of chocolate, coffee, and fruit in the aroma but it hasn't translated well to the flavour, at least not the fruit. I've heard that it doesn't age well either. |

286 | Southern Tier Imperial Mokah | United States | Imperial Stout | 3.2
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 Part of the 2012 LCBO Fall Release. ABV on bottle is 11.2%. A nice black pour with a small tan cap. Lots of coffee and chocolate in the aroma. Alcohol is present in the taste along with a hint of coffee and chocolate. The label says this is a mix of the Java and Choklat. Having never tried either of those, this doesn't make me want to try them at all. |

287 | Brew Brothers Ambush India Pale Ale | Canada | IPA | 2.1
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 3 | Overall: 3 This an orangy-gold beer which had a huge white head. The aroma was a mixture of roasted malt and citrusy hop tones. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied with weak carbonation. The flavour was rather boring, some malty flavour up front with a weak kick of hops in the background. Not really an IPA, and certainly not much of an ambush! |

290 | BrewDog Punk IPA | United Kingdom | IPA | 2.8
Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 This beer is popping up everywhere, and it's nothing special. Pale gold in colour, small white head, and even it goes away quickly. The aroma is very piney, some citrus and floral notes and malt. The flavour is what it is....grassy malt up front, and a hoppy ending. |

291 | Muskoka Cabin Fever IPA | Canada | IPA | 3.9
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 I tried this on tap recently as it's a new special brew from Muskoka. The bartender called it a double IPA, although it didn't have any of the characteristics one would expect. A beautiful golden-red nectar with a thick cream coloured head. The citrusy hops comes through heavily in the aroma with light spice tones, and sweet malt. Not a very refreshing beer, but then that's not a hallmark of IPAs. Nice citrus bitterness is balanced by the slight sweetness of the malt. I'll certainly try it again. |

293 | McAuslan St. Ambroise India Pale Ale | Canada | IPA | 4.0
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 A North American twist on a classic British style is probably the best way to describe this beer. The pour is golden hued orange, cloudy, with a huge white cap on top. There is a definite citrus note in the aroma along with hints of pine, cereal, and spices. The flavour has more of a citrusy feel to it than the aroma, but it is nicely balanced by the bready malt and light spice treatment. Spot on the BJCP guidelines! |

294 | Fuller's India Pale Ale | United Kingdom | IPA | 3.9
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 One of the 6 beers brought in as part of the Fuller's release at the LCBO. A perfect styled English IPA ()they did after all invent the style). Americans might consider this to be underhopped, but that 'underhopping' creates a nice balance between the malt and hops. |

295 | Mount Begbie Nasty Habit | Canada | IPA | 4.1
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9 Part of the 2012 LCBO Fall Seasonals. This one is great. A lot of hops are coming through in the aroma as well as some pine and caramel. Amber coloured, off-white head. Flavour has more of those delicious hops. I could make this a daily beer if it was more than a Fall seasonal. |

296 | Renaissance Voyager | New Zealand | IPA | 3.4
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 This is the New Zealand version of the British version of an IPA. A clear amber colured pour with a small tan head, very similar to the MPA had last night. Aroma is more citrusy than piney, with spices and caramel present. Flavour is quite similar to the MPA as well with caramel, citrus, and spices. The flavours in the MPA were definitely 'fuller' however. |

297 | 8 Wired Hopwired IPA | New Zealand | IPA | 4.3
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9 The first of several 8 Wired beers that Ontario is expected to see over the next couple of years. This one ia a clouded orange gold with a large frothy head. Lots of tropical fruit and citrus in the aroma, some herbal hops, and spices round out the aroma. Flavour is similar to the aroma with a tropical punch in the face flavour. I would certainly try this again if it comes back. |

298 | Founders Centennial IPA | United States | IPA | 4.1
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9 A well done IPA using the Centennial hop. An amber brew with a hint of murkiness and an off-white cap. Lots of piney notes and citrusy hops in the aroma with a touch of caramel. Well balanced flavour between the citrus and the caramel. Nothing too overpowering. |

299 | Alexander Keith's India Pale Ale | Canada | IPA | 1.9
Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 3 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 The Pride of Nova Scotia is not something a beer geek would be proud of. Thios is an old turn of the century English IPA according to the beerhunter Michael Jackson. I'm not convinced that it is. A very clear pale gold with a thin white head. Aroma is corn, metal, and not much else. Flavour is just gross. The fact that I have not reviewed this before astounds me. |

300 | Arch Brewing Dinner Jacket O'Red IPA | Canada | IPA | 3.0
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 Not sure the thoughts behind this beer, or if it is just another brewery tyring to get it's foot in the door. Quite red for an IPA, and the head is amost non-existent. The hops are prominent in the aroma as are notes of caramel and grass. Grass and weak citrus notes dominate the flavour. There are so many other brewers in Ontario doing a better job these days. |
