126 | 8 Wired Saison Sauvin | New Zealand | Saison | 4.0
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 One thing is certain, the graphic designer at 8 Wired is pushed all that hard to come up with new designs. This is the hoppiest saison I can recall. A golden pour with a bit of cloudiness and a large white head. The tropical fruitiness of the Nelson Sauvin hops bites through notes of pine and apples. The flavour is a little more rounded with the fruitiness balancing out the yeastiness. |

127 | Cannery Brewing Maple Stout | Canada | Stout | 4.0
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 The beer pours a solid brown colour with a decent sized light brown head. The nose notices whiffs of coffee, dark chocolate, roasted malt, and maple....definitely maple. Quite sweet to start with maple and chocolate notes, but the coffee flavours kick in at the finish. Nicely balanced. |

128 | C'est What Big Butt Smoked Dark Ale | Canada | Smoked Ale | 4.0
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 Beer and bacon in a glass, with coffee and dark chocolate as part of the mix. While this beer isn’t an outstanding in your face beer, I can’t find anything to fault it either. One of the best things about this beer for me is the subtleness of the smokiness, too many brewers give you an onslaught that turns me off. Not here, the smoked wood bacon flavour marries well with the roasted malt and coffee notes providing a nice flavour balance for me. |

129 | C'est What Chocolate Ale | Canada | Chocolate Stout | 4.0
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 Again, long ago there was a simple chocolate ale at C’est What that everybody enjoyed. It was a brown ale, dark brown in colour, with a light brown head. The aroma was nutty malt with hints of coffee and dark chocolate. The flavour on the other hand was all chocolate all the time. If you like chocolate and beer, this was your thing! |

130 | Erdinger Pikantus | Germany | Weizenbock | 4.0
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 Weizenbocks are very hard to find in North America, and dark weizenbocks are even rarer, so I was excited to see this one at the LCBO a while back. A dark brown pour, with a medium sized off-white head. Notes of chocolate, dark fruit, wheat and yeast make up most of the aroma. The flavour starts sweet with the wheat and fruit notes, but the finish is very bitter with the hops and chocolate. |

131 | Erdinger Weissbier Dunkel (Hefe-Weizen Dark) | Germany | Dunkel Weizen | 4.0
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 Dunkelweizens when well made can be a favourite. Fortunately, Erdinger makes a good one. A dark brown pour, solid in colour, with a light brown creamy head. Aroma is a mix of roasted malt, chocolate, wheat, and bubblegum. The flavour is chocolate, wheat, and spices. A very good beer. |

132 | McAuslan St. Ambroise Pale Ale | Canada | American Pale Ale | 4.0
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 The one thing about McAuslan you can always count on is that they make very good beer. The pale ale is no exception. A light amber pour, slight haze, and a long lasting white cap provide the eye candy. Cereal malts and caramel are present in the aroma along with notes of light spice and earthy hops. Flavour is a nice balance between the mild sweetness of the malt, and the light bitter finish provided by the hops. |

133 | Paulaner Hefeweizen Dunkel | Germany | Dunkel Weizen | 4.0
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 It took me many years of tracking this down to be able to finally taste one, and it was worth it. A nice dark brown pour, murky, with a medium sized cream coloured cap. The aroma is roasted malt, brown sugar, caramel, yeast, and spices. The flavour is sweet caramel/brown sugar up front, but there is a lingering hoppy finish, |

134 | Toppling Goliath pseudoSue Pale Ale | United States | American Pale Ale | 4.0
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9 My name is Sue……how do you do? Oh wait, this isn’t Sue, this is Fake Sue! Fortunately, this beer is anything but fake. The beer is nothing special to look at, being a cloudy golden pour topped by a foamy white cap. It’s in the aroma and the flavour that this beer separates from the pack with a huge citrus and pine punch and just enough grain to keep it balanced. |

135 | Boon Mariage Parfait Kriek | Belgium | Fruit Lambic | 4.0
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 This is the perfect kriek, or so the name would imply, and personally, it is pretty damn good. A dark cherry red pour with a thin pink set of bubbles that resemble a head. Tart fruit, yeast, funk, and vinegar make up the bouquet. Lots of sweet and tart cherry in the flavour. No hint of the 8% alcohol. |

136 | Big Rock Warthog Ale | Canada | Brown Ale | 3.9
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 9 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 7 This is Big Rock's version of Newcastle Brown Ale, only it's a superior brew in my opinion. The beer is brown with a tan coloured head. The aroma is malty and nutty with a slight hoppy hint. The mouthfeel is creamy with just mild carbonation and a dry bite. The flavour is nutty with a nice hoppish bite. |

138 | Unibroue Don De Dieu | Canada | Abbey Tripel | 3.9
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 The beer pours a hazy/cloudy gold colour with a huge generous fluffy head that comes down quickly. The aroma is predominantly malt and yeast with some citrusy tones present as well as spice. The flavour is that of malt, with some grain and spices to round it out. |

139 | Muskoka Cabin Fever IPA | Canada | IPA | 3.9
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 I tried this on tap recently as it's a new special brew from Muskoka. The bartender called it a double IPA, although it didn't have any of the characteristics one would expect. A beautiful golden-red nectar with a thick cream coloured head. The citrusy hops comes through heavily in the aroma with light spice tones, and sweet malt. Not a very refreshing beer, but then that's not a hallmark of IPAs. Nice citrus bitterness is balanced by the slight sweetness of the malt. I'll certainly try it again. |

140 | Guinness Extra Stout | Canada | Foreign / Extra Stout | 3.9
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 For many years, if you wanted to portray yourself as a sophisticated beer drinker in Canada, you drank Guinness. Unfortunately for many years, that meant going to your local pub and payong through the nose. The bottled version is certainly a great tasting beer. Not as dark as the draught version, and not as flavourful as the plethora of Imperial Stouts available these days, it is still a great beer. |

142 | Fuller's India Pale Ale | United Kingdom | IPA | 3.9
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 One of the 6 beers brought in as part of the Fuller's release at the LCBO. A perfect styled English IPA ()they did after all invent the style). Americans might consider this to be underhopped, but that 'underhopping' creates a nice balance between the malt and hops. |

143 | Beer Academy Black Lager | Canada | Schwarzbier | 3.9
Aroma: 10 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 I was quite impressed with the black lager. While some badly made schwarzbiers lack the roasted feel of a good German schwarzbier, this has it all. Beautiful black pour, decent brown head. Roasted malt and coffee make up most of the aroma, possibly some cherry. Roasted malt dominates the flavour with hints of coffee and chocolate. Hopefully some of these brands make it out of downtown Toronto. |

144 | Charlevoix Dominus Vobiscum Saison | Canada | Saison | 3.9
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 Part of the 2013 LCBO Summer Release. I like the Dominus Vobiscum series of brews and this is no exception. A murky gold pour, lots of effervescence, and a tight creamy white head to top it off. Yeast, spices, and grains dominate the aroma, not much in the way of funk here. Flavour is similar to the smell, not a lot of funk to offset the yeast and spicy notes, but that increases the drinkability. |

145 | Renaissance Elemental Porter | New Zealand | Porter | 3.9
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 This is their prize winning porter, and while it's very good, it's not a beer that I would die for. A blackish-brown pour is topped by a thin dark brown creamy head. Burnt wood, butterscotch, coffee and roasted malt make up the aroma. Flavour is neither too sweet, or harshly bitter, combining the coffee and butterscotch flavours into a well balanced beer. |

146 | Mad and Noisy Sunny and Share | Canada | Saison | 3.9
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 THis was a pretty refreshing alcoholic beverage. The people at Creemore and the Mad and Noisy team seem to have an idea what they're doing. A yellow-orange pour, decent head, and some effervescence provide the visual appearance. A little bit of funk and yeast and a lot of citrus provide the aromatic backdrop for this beer. The flavour is an easy drinking lemony flavour with yeast, funk, and grains thrown in for good measure |

147 | Belhaven Wee Heavy | United Kingdom | Scottish Ale | 3.9
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 8 I have always found Scotch Ales to be hit and miss, and I dare say that this one was a hit. A very dark mahogany colour with a light brown cap. Aroma is caramel, molasses, and nuts. The flavour is rich, sweet, and satisfying with notes of molasses, coffee, and plums. |

148 | Affligem Tripel | Belgium | Abbey Tripel | 3.9
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 Purchased at Liquor Control Board of Ontario store. A very pale golden colour with a huge white head, and good lacing. Lots of light fruits and citrus notes in the aroma, finishing off with a grains, spices, and yeast. Flavour is light fruits, yeast, spices, and a bitter citrusy finish. |

149 | Boddingtons Pub Ale | United Kingdom | Bitter | 3.9
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 A golden amber pour, clear, with a huge off-white head. Ample amounts of citrus and caramel in the nose with hints of yeast and cereal malts. Well balanced palate between the malt and hops with just the right amount of sweetness in the mix. |

150 | Bellwoods Boot Knife | Canada | Belgian Ale | 3.9
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 Is this a Belgian Ale or a Brown Ale? I see it listed as both from time to time. It came to me on draught as a murky dark brown with a foamy brown head. The first thing the nose senses is the yeast, followed by coffee, roasted malt, and brown sugar notes. The beer is a tad sweet with notes of raisins, sugar, and chocolate being prevalent. Worth trying again though. |
