476 | Beau's All Natural Lug Tread Lagered Ale | Canada | Kölsch | 2.0
Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 If you watch Big Brother Canada, you’ve seen them drink this beer like it is going out of style. Note to self…it isn’t! This is Canada’s best selling Kolsch style beer, and there is really nothing to it. A translucent blonde colour with a thin snow white head. Grainy malt and earthy hops supply the majority of the aroma and flavour. This is really a gutless beer. |

477 | Big Rock Rhine Stone Cowboy Kölsch Style Ale | Canada | Kölsch | 2.0
Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 I opened the bottle and I expected Glen Campbell to pop out and start singing. Being a fan of Glen Campbell, I would have liked that because this beer misses the point on everything else. It describes itself as a Kolsch, but has more of that blonde ale boringness attached to it. A very light gold colour with weak grainy aromas. Flavour is just not there, again, leaning towards the boring blonde ale malty style. |

478 | Heineken Lager | Netherlands | Pale Lager | 2.0
Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 I have acquaintances who measure how good a bar is based on whether or not you can get a Heineken. If you can – it’s a go to bar. If you can’t, then it is to be avoided at all costs. Heineken to me is a bad beer. A pale golden beer with a soft white cap that smells like old grains and skunks. It tastes like stale grains and bathwater. Surprisingly, there are worse beers out there. |

480 | Alexander Keith's Honey Brown Ale | Canada | Brown Ale | 1.9
Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 3 | Overall: 4 The first negative thing I noticed about this beer was that it was the same colour as diarrhea (and that is never a good thing). The second negative thing I noticed about this beer was the metallic aroma. I found no honey. Same with the flavour, on the sweet side but no honey. |

481 | Alexander Keith's India Pale Ale | Canada | IPA | 1.9
Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 3 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 The Pride of Nova Scotia is not something a beer geek would be proud of. Thios is an old turn of the century English IPA according to the beerhunter Michael Jackson. I'm not convinced that it is. A very clear pale gold with a thin white head. Aroma is corn, metal, and not much else. Flavour is just gross. The fact that I have not reviewed this before astounds me. |

482 | Alpine Lager | Canada | Pale Lager | 1.9
Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 3 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 There was a time when one could easily sample 90% of the beers brewed in Canada, mainly just by visiting the capital city in each province and asking for directions to the bar with the most taps. Then the 80s turned into the 90s and there was change afoot. It was during those mid-80s days when I tried the Oland and Moosehead beers for the first time on a trip to Halifax. Sadly, I was presented with a string of pale gold beers with white heads, and a definite grainy malt presence in the nose and taste. Fast forward 30 years, and nothing has changed. |

483 | Heineken Buckler | Netherlands | Reduced Alcohol | 1.9
Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 3 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 3 | Overall: 3 I've known about Buckler beer for decades, they used to sponsor a team on the World Cycling Tour in the 1980s. Jelle Nijdam won a TdF prologue while racing for Buckler. It is a very clear gold, and the head starts out large but quickly disappears. Aroma is typical of the pale lager style, but the flavour is severely lacking. The bottle lists hops, but none can be detected. |

484 | Baltika 2 Svetloe | Russia | Pale Lager | 1.9
Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 3 | Overall: 4 Purchased at the Liquor Control Board of Ontario Store. This is a typical Eastern European pale lager, which means not much different than your typical North American pale lager. It pours a clear golden colour with a white head. Both the aroma and the flavour are grainy malt with metallic and acidic off-flavours. |

489 | Bavaria Holland Beer | Netherlands | Lager | 1.8
Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 3 | Flavor: 3 | Overall: 4 Another typical European Pale Lager that probably oinly exists so that the brewer can have an entry into the space. Pale gold in colour, the head is snow white and generous. The aroma is metallic, grassy, and weak hops, probably Saaz. The flavour is typical of a North American adjunct lager with the metallic and acidic flavours of the malt and adjuncts coming through. |

490 | Ceres Royal Selection | Denmark | Helles / Dortmunder | 1.8
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 3 | Mouthfeel: 3 | Flavor: 3 | Overall: 3 I assume that the target audience for this beer is high school kids looking to get a huge buzz on for a Saturday night, or prior to the high school dance. This is a malt liquor. It is clear gold in colour and all you can really smell is alcohol. Not much in the way of grains or hops are present unfortunately. |

491 | Hockley Valley 100 | Canada | Mild Ale | 1.8
Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 3 | Overall: 3 At one time Hockley Valley made decent beer. Those days seem to have passed. This is described as a blonde ale which means anything is possible. It pours a light gold colour, a little bit of haze, and thin whitish ring for a head. The aroma is light fruit, cereal grains, and earthy hops. The flavour is gross however, the grains taste old, and the hops just don’t come through. Plenty of metallic notes however. |

493 | Wellington Silver Wheat Ale | Canada | American Wheat | 1.8
Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 3 | Overall: 3 This beer is in the running for the worst American Wheat style I have tried. It just isn’t that good. It is a pale straw colour with a weak white head. Aroma is metallic in nature, some weak wheat and barley notes, and I’ve yet to notice a hop. Flavour is a hit mess of off-flavours that are inconsistent with wheat beers. |

494 | Baltika 6 (Porter) | Russia | Baltic Porter | 1.8
Aroma: 3 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 3 | Overall: 3 Purchased at the Liquor Control Board of Ontario Store. One would think a Baltic porter brewed in a Baltic seaport would be amazeballs, but they forgot to include the Baltic Brewery because this Baltic Porter is shit. It pours a dark blackish-brown colour with a light brown head. The aroma is roasted malt, molasses, funk, and vomit. The flavour mirrors the aroma, especially the vomit, it was all I could do to get this beer down. |
