226 | Birrificio del Ducato Nuova Mattina / New Morning | Italy | Saison | 3.6
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 The bottle is shaped like a small club, and when the bottle is full, probably makes a great weapon. I would think that saisons would be a great style for a country like Italy. A cloudy golden pour with lots of foam on top. Aroma is funky and spicy with tons of herbs in the mix. Flavour is spicy with notes of yeast, citrus, and earthy flavours. |

227 | Jever Pilsener | Germany | Bohemian / Czech Pilsener | 3.6
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 A recent find at the provincial liquor outlet and featured in the glossy monthly magazine. Canned, and pours into the glass as a clear light gold liquid. Cereal malt dominates the aromatics with ample hoppy tones. The flavour is nicely balanced between with malty sweetness and hoppy bitterness. Not bad for $2 beer. |

228 | Amager Kåååd | Denmark | IPA | 3.6
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 Purchased at Liquor Control Board of Ontario store. This is one strange India Pale Ale. It pours a cloudy golden amber colour with almost no head. The aroma is very grainly with hints of light fruit and citrusy hops. The flavour is closer to that of an IPA with a very hop-forward grapefruit flavour, followed by notes of light fruits and grains. |

229 | Barbar Belgian Honey Ale / Barbar Blonde | Belgium | Belgian Strong Ale | 3.6
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 Not sure if this contains actual honey or not. It pours a deep gold colour with a thin white cap. The aroma is quite grainly with notes of spices, especially coriander and pepper. There is no noticeable alcohol in the nose or palate despite the 8% ABV. Flavour is noticeable spice with grain notes and a touch of malty sweetness. |

230 | Blanche de Bruxelles Manneken Pis | Belgium | Witbier | 3.6
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 A nice witbier for the masses like a Hoegaarden. It pours a nice hazed yellow with a snow wite head. The aroma is typical witbier with notes of yeast and spices. The flavour is sweet wheat with hints of coriander and citrus. I would buy again. |

231 | Birra Moretti La Rossa | Italy | Doppelbock | 3.6
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 Italian dopplebocks are quite rare, and this one isn’t that bad. A reddish brown pour with beige coloured head. The aroma is very malty with notes of sweet dark fruit, some rasted malt, nuts, and caramel. The beer has a malty sweetness to it that isn’t overpowering, yet at the same time has a dry nuttiness to it as well. |

232 | Beau's All Natural / Kissmeyer Nordic Pale Ale | Canada | Spiced Beer | 3.6
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 Local brewer but their product can be difficult to drink because they are very loose in their interpretation of styles. Light golden colour, slight murkiness, and a weak off-white cap. Aroma is floral and herbal with yeast and sweet malt in the background. Flavour is herbal with some up front malty notes. A nice effort, and certainly something different. |

233 | Hacker-Pschorr Anno 1417 | Germany | Kellerbier | 3.6
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 This beer will be 600 years old soon, and personally I think it has stood the test of time. A beautiful medium gold colour with maybe be an inch of foamy white bubbles on top. Grains, weak floral hops, and spices dominate the aroma. The flavour is dominated by the grains and yeast with the hop flavour present mainly at the finish. |

234 | Jopen Hoppenbier | Netherlands | Belgian Ale | 3.6
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 This beer is older than I am. A recipe dating back to 1501 it’s a Dutch originated Belgian Ale currently back in Dutch territory. It appears as a cloudy light yellow liquid with a weak bubbly white head. The aroma has some tripel characteristics to it with notes of yeast, honey, grains, and citrus. The flavour has a definite spicy and citrusy hop note to it with the malt in the background. |

235 | McAuslan Griffon Extra Pale Blonde Ale | Canada | Blonde Ale | 3.6
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 7 This is a good beer, yet quite possibly, the worst beer brewed by McAuslan. It pours a very pale gold colour with a frothy white head that sticks around to hear a story or two. The aroma is dominated by biscuit malt, light spices, yeast, and floral hops. The flavour starts out with a definite maltiness before giving way to a spicy hop finish. |

236 | McAuslan St. Ambroise Cream Ale | Canada | Cream Ale | 3.6
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 A good interpretation of the style. The pour is a transparent copper colour with a thin rocky tan coloured head. Aroma is grains, yeast, and earthy hops. The flavour is malted grains, some weak spice, and a hop finish. Nothing exciting, just a well done effort by McAuslan. |

237 | Wernesgrüner Pils | Germany | Bohemian / Czech Pilsener | 3.6
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 When I was younger (the 1970s), there was nothing better than a good german pils. Partly because it was better than Molson, Labatts, and Carling O’Keefe and partly because we didn’t know any better. Every once in a while I like to revisit the classic Pils such as Bitburger, Wernesgruner, etc. A nice clear golden pour with a frothy white head, just as you would expect from a German beer. Very grainy aroma and a nicely balanced flavour with the malt backed by some bitter hops. Always good, but no longer the world beaters they used to be. |

238 | St. Louis Gueuze Lambic | Belgium | Gueuze | 3.6
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 Purchased at the Liquor Control Board of Ontario Store. Pours a pale gold colour with definte haze and a snow white bubbly head that is gone within seconds. The aroma is tart fruit, yeast, grains, and sour funk. The flavour is very tart fruit with hints of grains and yeast in the mix. |

239 | Wellington Digger's Wit | Canada | Witbier | 3.6
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 7 In a lot of ways, Witbiers are so yesterday, but at the same time, a good witbier can be quite refreshing. This beer pours a very hazy light yellow colour with a thin white head. Aroma is quite spicy with notes of wheat and yeast. Far more spicy than a Hoegaarden. A lot of yeast and spice in the flavour. Not refreshing, but is tasty. |

240 | 10 Barrel Crush Raspberry SOur | United States | Wild Ale | 3.6
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 Making a Berliner Weisse seems to have become a lost art among brewmasters, but thankfully you can still find them if you look hard enough. You can smell the tartness a mile away for this beer. A golden pink beer with almost no head. Lots of tart fruit and wheat in the aroma with some spice hints to round it out. Flavour is very well balanced with some mild fruit sweetness that gives way to the tart notes one expects from the style. |

241 | Belgh Brasse Mons Abbey Dubbel | Canada | Abbey Dubbel | 3.6
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 The beer is a dark brown pour with ruby hints at the edges. The head is light brown in colour, creamy, and sticks around. Figs and raisins are the dominant aromas with yeast, spices, and roasted malt also present. Maybe a little bit of caramel as well. Like a lot of Dubbels, the beer starts off sweet with notes of nuts and fruit, but finishes bitter as the hops kick in. A good dubbel |

242 | Affligem Blonde | Belgium | Belgian Ale | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 Purchased at Liquor Control Board of Ontario store. A cloudy golden pour with a generous white head. Aroma is yeast, light citrus, spices, and grains. Flavour is a tad sweet to start, which gives away to tart citrus notes, before a bitter finish. |

243 | Birra Moretti Baffo D’oro | Italy | Lager | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 This is my Italian lager of choice, although not every Italian joint carries it. A deep gold colour with a thin white cap. The aroma is biscuit malts, some herbal hoppiness, and a slight citrus note. Flavour is quite malty with hints of weak spice and hops. An excellent Italian beer. |

244 | Bockor Bellegems Bruin | Belgium | Flanders Oude Bruin | 3.5
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 A hazy light brown with red edges, and a thick bubbly off-white head. Lots of dark fruit, some tartness, yeast, and wooden notes make comprise the aroma. The flavour is a mish-mash between the sweet fruit notes and the tart cherry-like flavours with plenty of funk in the mix. |

245 | Black Mesa Brewing Double ESB | United States | English Strong Ale | 3.5
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 The beer pours a clear copper colour with a thick slightly off-white head that lingers. Toffee and floral hops make up most of the aroma with cereal malt in the mix. A nice warming sweet butterscotch flavour with a decent bitter hoppy finish. The bottle says 9.6%, but it's well hidden in both the aroma and flavour. Impressive. |

246 | Amsterdam Oranje Weisse | Canada | Witbier | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 This beer seems to have a different name every summer, but the the beer itself never changes. It’s a very clouded light yellow colour with a frothy white head that lasts. Lots of wheat and spices in the aroma. The flavour tends to lean towards the sweet side with the notes of orange and tangerine before finishing with a wheaty malt finish. No matter what they call it, always a refreshing summer brew. |

247 | Big Rig Gold | Canada | Kölsch | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 One of my local breweries, but unfortunately they still haven’t found out the meaning of quality control. You can come back to the same beer week after week and notice huge differences in both colour and flavour. The beer is usually a medium to dark gold with a slight off-white head. Aroma is usually cereal mnalt with some floral fragrant hops. Flavour is usually on the malty side with a hoppy balance in the finish. |

248 | C'est What Sierra Excellent Ale | Canada | Mild Ale | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 Another in a long line of mild beers from the creative minds at C’est What? This one is a murky medium gold colour with a frothy off-white head. The aroma is grass, some herbs, and some yeast. The flavour is light sweet fruit, with an almost spicy peppery finish. Different, but good. |

249 | Durham Blak Katt | Canada | Stout | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 This is a stout, a plain simple stout. Not an Irish stout, and not a specialty stout…just a stout. A black pour with a dark brown creamy head, this is only available on draught. Roasted malt and coffee dominate the aroma, while the flavour has more of a chocolatey feel to it. Nothing outstanding, just a solid beer! |

|
250 | Hoegaarden Original White Ale | Belgium | Witbier | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 A classic witbier, quite possibly the original. This beer pours a hazed light yellow colour with a huge bubbly white cap. The aroma is wheat, coriander, and yeast. The flavour is sweet wheat malt, and finishes with a spicy bitter finish. Very refreshing, but nothing real exciting here. |
