376 Beer Academy Kölsch Blonde Ale Canada Kölsch 3.2

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6

I went all the way to Toronto to try several of the new Beer Academy beers, the kolsch was one of them. Like most koslches, this is a refreshing lagered ale. Plenty of grains and yeast in the aroma and some sweet fruit hints. Flavour is similar, and has a dry wine like finish. An interesting take on the style.

377 Beer Academy Black Lager Canada Schwarzbier 3.9

Aroma: 10 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

I was quite impressed with the black lager. While some badly made schwarzbiers lack the roasted feel of a good German schwarzbier, this has it all. Beautiful black pour, decent brown head. Roasted malt and coffee make up most of the aroma, possibly some cherry. Roasted malt dominates the flavour with hints of coffee and chocolate. Hopefully some of these brands make it out of downtown Toronto.

378 Beer Academy Dortmunder Canada Helles / Dortmunder 4.0

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8

If there is anything that MolsonCoors knows how to do, it's make a golden coloured lager like this one. The Beer Academy Dortmunder is what happens when you use quality ingredients instead of corn syrup and hop extract. Just an all round great attempt at a Western German lager

379 Beer Academy Porter Canada Porter 4.0

Aroma: 10 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

This is my favourite beer from the Beer Academy line. If I didn't know iut was a porter, I would have thought it was an excellent example of a plain stout. Pours a rich dark brown with black edges. Lots of roast and vanilla in the nose, along wioth a little fruit and some vanilla. Not overly bitter on the tongue, always a plus iwth a porter or stout.

380 Creemore Springs Altbier Canada Altbier 3.6

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

New can found at the LCBO, different branding than a typical Creemore beer. Copper coloured beer with a decent head. Aroma is more hoppy than a lot of Creemore products. Flavour tends towards a typical German alt with a nice balance between malt and hops.

381 Creemore Springs Kellerbier Canada Kellerbier 3.8

Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 7

One of three beers that Six Pints has added to a trio of Granville Island beers to create a craft 6-pack at the LCBO. An unfiltered golden colour with a white head. Both the aroma and flavour are malt forward with a definite hop presence. Flavour is rather unremarkable, but finishes with a hoppy snap!

382 Creemore Springs UrBock Canada Bock 4.4

Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9

This is my favourite beer from the Creemore line-up. Pours a solid maple syrup brown with a light brown head. Sweet malt and caramel dominate the flavour and aroma, although there is a hint of herbal hops in both. Light for a bock, and very sessionable.

383 Creemore Springs Premium Lager Canada Lager 3.8

Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

This is the King of the Creemore stable, their award winning pilsener. Probably the best pilsener I've ever tried, although not my favourite style. A clear pour, with a red tinged golden hue. Malts are biscuity and hops are floral. Very few off-tastes in this beer.

384 Creemore Springs Traditional Pilsner Canada Bohemian / Czech Pilsener 3.7

Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

This was Creemore's first attempt at a Pilsner, and while generally accepted as a very good beer in it's native regions, it is not up the standard of the Premium Lager. This is a typical golden lager which lacks the corn and other adjuncts the macros add.

385 Coors Light ICED T Canada Light / Lite Lager 1.0

Aroma: 2 | Appearance: 2 | Mouthfeel: 2 | Flavor: 2 | Overall: 2

Blech! Do I really have to write 150 characters when 'blech' should suffice. Tried this in a taste test with Coors Light, and Coors, and this was easily the most wretched waste of malt and hops (and tea) since time began.

386 Coors Light United States Light / Lite Lager 2.2

Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4

This nis for the Canadian brewed version. It was tried immediately after trying their new Iced Tea beer, and frankly, it made this quite drinkable. Compared to craft beer, it's pretty bad, but compared to the Iced Tea version, it's a refreshing drinkable beer. It's Canada's best selling beer I hear.

387 Coors United States Pale Lager 2.4

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4

Had during a Coors threesome along with Coors Light and Coors Light Iced Tea version. This was the beeriest of the three, the darkest of the three (not saying mych considering you could read a magazine through the other two) and the most full bodied. Again, compared to the Coors Light Iced Tea, this was heaven in a bottle, compared to a Creemore Springs Lager....it's more like 2 minutes of chugging hell.

388 Affligem Dubbel Belgium Abbey Dubbel 4.1

Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8

Part of the LCBO's winter warmer series for 2011. This is an excellent beer...pours a solid reddish-brown colour with a creamy light brown head. Aroma is full of sweet tones, caramel, plums, and sugar. The flavour is on the sweeter side of the spectrum as well, with a dryish finish.

389 Hop City Barking Squirrel Lager Canada Vienna / Amber Lager 2.0

Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4

Gag me with a spoon....please. Hop City Brewing is a wholly owned subsidiary of Moosehead, but they want you to believe that this is craft (when it is actually crap) so they don't put the Moosehead affiliation anywhere on the can. It's a very weak colour for a Vienna, and the aroma and taste both have skunkiness in them. Remember, this is craP, not craFT.

390 Muskoka Double Chocolate Cranberry Stout Canada Imperial Stout 3.3

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6

Large bottle with bothe old name and new name displayed. A solid brown pour with purplish hints. Cap starts out huge and dissipates quickly. Lots of chocolate, coffee, and fruit in the aroma but it hasn't translated well to the flavour, at least not the fruit. I've heard that it doesn't age well either.

391 Steam Whistle Pilsner Canada Bohemian / Czech Pilsener 4.0

Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8

This is far and away the best true pilsener in Canada. It pours a medium golden colour with a decent white head. Good grainy malt and floral hoppish toned in both the aroma and flavour. Just loved it!

392 Great Lakes Brewery Winter Ale Canada Spiced Beer 4.2

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 8

One of my favourite non-Belgian spiced ales. The spices in this beer come through in both the aroma and taste and really fit the season well. The base is that of an English strong ale with spices like cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg added. Delish!

393 Fuller's Golden Pride United Kingdom English Strong Ale 4.0

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8

One of the 6 beers brought in as part of the Fuller's release at the LCBO. THis is a very mellow smooth beer. A clear amber pour, lots of sweet stuff in the aroma like chocolate, caramel, and hops. Tastes great with a sweetness that lingers.

394 Fuller's 1845 United Kingdom English Strong Ale 3.7

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

Part of the recent Fuller's release at the LCBO. Quite similar to the Golden Pride in a lot of ways, especially colour and aroma. The 1845 has a harsher more bitter finish however, resulting in a lower score for me.

395 Fuller's Past Masters Double Stout United Kingdom Imperial Stout 4.5

Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 9 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9

One of the 6 beers brought in as part of the Fuller's release at the LCBO. This is the easiest drinking Impy Stout I have ever had. A deep brownish colour with a thin head. Lots of chocolate and cocoa in the aroma and flavour and absolutely no hints of alcohol.

396 Fuller's Past Masters XX Strong Ale United Kingdom English Strong Ale 4.2

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 8

One of the 6 beers brought in as part of the Fuller's release at the LCBO. This was a very smooth drinking ESA with plenty of flavour. A lot of fruit and toffee notes abound in the flavour and aroma.

397 Fuller's Old Winter Ale United Kingdom English Strong Ale 3.6

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

One of the 6 beers brought in as part of the Fuller's release at the LCBO. Not as spicy as some other Winter Warmer from Britain. That's a plus here.

398 Fuller's India Pale Ale United Kingdom IPA 3.9

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8

One of the 6 beers brought in as part of the Fuller's release at the LCBO. A perfect styled English IPA ()they did after all invent the style). Americans might consider this to be underhopped, but that 'underhopping' creates a nice balance between the malt and hops.

399 Jenlain D'Or France Belgian Strong Ale 3.1

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6

A recent find at the LCBO. Very similar to the La Chouffe also available at the LCBO right now. A yeasty blonde ale with alcohol definitely presnt in the aroma and flavour. Next time I'll choose the La Chouffe.

400 McAuslan St. Ambroise India Pale Ale Canada IPA 4.0

Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8

A North American twist on a classic British style is probably the best way to describe this beer. The pour is golden hued orange, cloudy, with a huge white cap on top. There is a definite citrus note in the aroma along with hints of pine, cereal, and spices. The flavour has more of a citrusy feel to it than the aroma, but it is nicely balanced by the bready malt and light spice treatment. Spot on the BJCP guidelines!
