226 | Double Trouble French Press Vanilla Stout | Canada | Milk Stout | 2.8
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 3 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 This is quite possibly the thinnest stout I have ever had. It pours a dark black in colour with a creamy brown head. Lots of coffee and chocolate in the aroma, but not much vanilla or roasted malt. The flavour is much the same as the aroma with almost no vanilla. |

227 | Double Trouble Hops and Robbers Extra Delicious IPA | Canada | IPA | 2.6
Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 When this came out, there were people who were predicting it would take the Ontario IPA market by storm, and after it swung and missed, those people forgot their words (even though they were published). This is an average beer at best, but a below average IPA. It pours a clear copper colour with very little head. The aroma is more caramel than citrus, although the citrusy hop notes are certainly there. The taste is again, more sweet than citrus. Not one I seek out. |

228 | Double Trouble Prison Break Breakout Pilsner | Canada | Bohemian / Czech Pilsener | 2.9
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 A hazy pilsner – go figure! This beer pours a hazed medium gold from the can, with a thin white ring passing for a head. The aroma is biscuit malt, with notes of yeast and perfumy hops in the mix. The taste is sweet malt and yeast. Not much in the way of hops in the flavour. |

229 | Double Trouble Revenge of the Ginger | Canada | Spiced Beer | 2.5
Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 When I was in University many decades ago, there was a ginger beer available from England that was very good, but over time it disappeared from the shelves. This is not an ideal replacement. The beer pours a cloudy copper colour with a weak light brown head. The aroma is really just ginger and caramel, and anything else is lost in the mix. The flavour is a muddled mess of caramel notes, ginger, and citrus. |

230 | Durham Blak Katt | Canada | Stout | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 This is a stout, a plain simple stout. Not an Irish stout, and not a specialty stout…just a stout. A black pour with a dark brown creamy head, this is only available on draught. Roasted malt and coffee dominate the aroma, while the flavour has more of a chocolatey feel to it. Nothing outstanding, just a solid beer! |

231 | Durham Hop Addict | Canada | IPA | 3.3
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 Another in the long line of draught only beers from the GTA brewer County Durham. Hop Addict is a moderate ABV IPA with a lot of aroma, and not so much flavour, for me anyway. The beer pours a clear light copper colour with very little head. The aroma is nice citrusy hops, some caramel and some grains. The flavour however isn’t as hop forward as the aroma would indicate. |

232 | Durham Signature Ale | Canada | English Pale Ale | 3.1
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 This is the only beer I’ve seen from Durham in bottles. A light copper colour, clear, with a thin white head. Aroma is earthy hops, cereal malt, and yeast. Flavour is a nice balance between the malty sweetness and the hoppy bitterness but the feeling is that something is missing, it doesn’t hit you like it should. |

233 | Duvel | Belgium | Belgian Strong Ale | 2.7
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 Ugh. It was all I could do to get this one down. A nice tripel style Belgian with it's hazy golden colour and huge rocky white head. The aroma is bready malt and a lot of spice...too much spice. The flavour was very peppery and took away from any malt and hop character I could otherwise detect. |

234 | Efes Pilsener | Turkey | Lager | 1.2
Aroma: 3 | Appearance: 3 | Mouthfeel: 2 | Flavor: 2 | Overall: 2 Everywhere you go in Turkiye, this is the beer you find. It literally is everywhere. Unfortunately there is nothing new to say that already hasn't been said. Clear gold in colour, weak white cap that can't keep itself alive despite excessive carbonation. Nose is cereal grains, weak earthy hops. Flavour is weak giving the impression that this beer may be a lot less than 5% ABV. |

236 | Erdinger Pikantus | Germany | Weizenbock | 4.0
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 Weizenbocks are very hard to find in North America, and dark weizenbocks are even rarer, so I was excited to see this one at the LCBO a while back. A dark brown pour, with a medium sized off-white head. Notes of chocolate, dark fruit, wheat and yeast make up most of the aroma. The flavour starts sweet with the wheat and fruit notes, but the finish is very bitter with the hops and chocolate. |

237 | Erdinger Weissbier (Mit Feiner Hefe) | Germany | Hefeweizen | 4.3
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9 One of my favourite hefeweizens. Maybe not in the same class as a Schneider or a Weihanstephan, but still pretty damn good. A hazy pale yellow pour with a huge frothy white head. Aroma is banana, bubblegum, wheat, and cloves. The flavour is well balanced with the sweet wheat notes up front. This goes down easy! |

238 | Erdinger Weissbier Dunkel (Hefe-Weizen Dark) | Germany | Dunkel Weizen | 4.0
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 Dunkelweizens when well made can be a favourite. Fortunately, Erdinger makes a good one. A dark brown pour, solid in colour, with a light brown creamy head. Aroma is a mix of roasted malt, chocolate, wheat, and bubblegum. The flavour is chocolate, wheat, and spices. A very good beer. |

239 | F & M StoneHammer Oatmeal Coffee Stout | Canada | Oatmeal Stout | 3.1
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 I’m not all that impressed with the F&M Brewery as I feel their beers lack complexity. This is a fine example of a beer that lacks complexity as the roasted malt is expected to carry both the aroma and the flavour and it falls short for me. There needs to be more of a coffee/chocolate note to make this a winner. |

240 | Flying Monkeys Amber Ale | Canada | Amber Ale | 2.7
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 Formerly known as Robert Simpson Amber Ale, and just as uninspired as it was before. It amazes me that a brewery that tries to stretch boundaries as much as these guys still make a simple amber ale. It pours a translucent amber colour with a thin off-white head. Weak caramel and weak citrus comprise the aromas and flavours. Again, nothing memorable here. |

241 | Flying Monkeys Genius of Suburbia | Canada | IPA | 3.0
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 A session wheat beer. It pours a hazed pale golden hued orange with a white head. The aroma is strong on citrus with a hint of wheat and spice. The flavour is the same as the aroma, very citrusy with notes of grapefruit, and bitter finish. Should have been better. |

242 | Flying Monkeys Hoptical Illusion Almost Pale Ale | Canada | American Pale Ale | 3.8
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 This is one of the beers that Flying Monkeys has been hanging their hat on and it’s a fine beer. A slightly hazed copper coloured pour with a weak off-white ring for a cap. The aroma is caramel malt, light fruits, and light citrus. The flavours of caramel and citrus are well balanced. |

243 | Flying Monkeys Netherworld Cascadian Dark Ale | Canada | American Black Ale | 4.2
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9 One of the original Canadian Black IPAs. The Netherworld pours a very dark brown, almost black with a light brown bubbly cap. The aroma is roasted malt, coffee, and citrus. The flavour is well balanced between the grapefruity hops and the coffee. Delicious! |

244 | Flying Monkeys Smashbomb Atomic IPA | Canada | IPA | 3.8
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 At one time, this was perceived to be one of the bitterest IPAs in Canada, but over time either my tongue has adjusted, or the IBUs have been toned down. Either way, it is still a very drinkable IPA. The beer pours a murky golden orange with a generous tan coloured head. The aroma is citrusy hops, caramel, and light grains. The flavour is an in your face grapefruit punch tempered by some caramel sweetness. |

245 | Forked River Capital Blonde Ale | Canada | Blonde Ale | 3.0
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 The beer pours a slightly hazed light gold colour with a generous frothy head that lasts a few minutes. The aroma is grainy malt with some light fruit and yeast notes. The flavour is balanced between some light sweet fruity malt tones and an earthy hop bitterness. |

247 | Forked River Riptide Rye Pale Ale | Canada | Rye Beer | 2.7
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 Not one of the better examples of the style, and that sucks. A cloudy amber colour with a half inch foamy tan coloured head. There is rye in the aroma, but it is quite weak compared to other rye beers in Ontario. Also some citrusy hops and light fruits. The flavour is more citrus, and less spicy rye. Decent if you prefer your rye beers rye-less. |

248 | Founders Backwoods Bastard | United States | Scottish Ale | 4.1
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9 Founders has arrived in Ontario with 6 new beers and after trying them all, we need more of these in Ontario. Backwoods Bastard is a barrel aged Dirty Bastard and the result is a great beer. A dark rust colour with a decent sized cap. Aroma is sweet malt, berries, molasses, and bourbon. Flavour is a beautiful mixture of sweet malt/molasses balanced by a hint of alcohol. Great beer. |

250 | Founders Centennial IPA | United States | IPA | 4.1
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9 A well done IPA using the Centennial hop. An amber brew with a hint of murkiness and an off-white cap. Lots of piney notes and citrusy hops in the aroma with a touch of caramel. Well balanced flavour between the citrus and the caramel. Nothing too overpowering. |
