2002 edition) Reddish brown color with a huge malt and alcohol nose. Flavor is quite sweet with some raisins, caramel, and cherries. The alcohol is certainly present even at a colder temp. This is one BASTARD all right, it will sneak up and bitch smack you! This may truly be a beer few are worthy of. Not for the faint of heart.

An amber appearance on this one. Some grapefruit, raisins, cherries, and alcohol are present in the aroma. The flavor is rather sweet but has a slight bitter bite to it. I taste some maple, caramel, raisins, and a hint of citrus. Overall this was a good beer.

My first Nebraska beer! Anyways a dark orange to copper color on this beer. The aroma contains some dark fruits, citrus, vanilla, and alcohol. The flavor is rather one dimensional and bends itself more toward the IPA side of things but I get some caramel, big dose of citrus, raisins, and alcohol. Not really a bad beer but it needs direction kind of like Amy Winehouse.

This poured a copper color with a large white head. The aroma contains some alcohol along with some citrus, mainly oranges, oats and caramel. The flavor is a little bit hoppy with some citrus but a good malt presence. The finish is slightly bitter and warming. Overall more like an IIPA but I liked it.

This poured a dark amber color with a white head. The aroma is alcohol, dark fruit, and toffee. The flavor is rather sweet with some caramel, toffee, cherries, raisins, and some alcohol showing. The finish is also rather sweet. Overall a very good barleywine.

I taste some citrus, cherries, and caramel. The beer has some strange gritty mouthfeel to it. The aftertaste is slightly bitter. Overall this was ok enough.

I get some raisins, cherries, citrus, caramel, and vanilla extract. The hop presence is there but it seems to be more in the sweet English mold. Overall a nice beer!

This sucks dawg................A murky orange color with a white head. All is well looking at it, its when you smell and taste it that the problems arise. The aroma is musty like an old stanky blanket found in an attic that the dog used to sleep on. Also some oranges and sweet potatoes. The flavor is very sour with tons of synthetic lemon juice. It didn’t seem old to me, just poorly crafted. Quite possibly the worst barley wine I’ve ever had.

This poured a murky orange color with very little head. The aroma contains some alcohol, caramel, and citrus. The flavor is rather tame for a barleywine with some bready notes, citrus, caramel, and alcohol. The finish is rather sweet and boozy with a hint of hops. Overall this is an American Barleywine through and through, it’s ok but not amazing by any stretch.

Looks like dirty dishwater with a cloudy brownish red color with little head. The aroma is faint citrus, caramel, leather, spices. It smells old but its not as its at a bar with a heavy rotation of taps and I think this arrived yesterday! Flavor is yeasty with some citrus and cardboard. Some brown sugar finish. Easily the worst barleywine I’ve had! Didnt finish 8 ounce sample bad.

This poured an amber color with a white head. The aroma contains lots of citrus notes like lemons with some caramel and toffee notes. The flavor is a bit boozy backed up with a ton of hops. There is a malt character hanging around. This is almost like a 50/50 American and English Barleywine split. Overall a little confused but drinkable.

Dark orange with a white head. Aroma contains citrus, spices, floral notes, and perfume. The flavor is malty with some bitterness. Some oranges and lemons showing up. Reisn up in this. Creamy mouthfeel and not too much booze showing up. Overall good and very drinkable for 10 percent.

The flavor is more of the coffee flavors but you can detect a pine and orange peel presence. Palate is a little thin. Overall this is one of the better I’ve had of the style.

Hooptie Hoo, now my local brewpub is trying to ruin IPAs! This one poured a murky brown color with a small white head. The aroma contained some malt with caramel and toffee. This is in the background as the citrus and pine punch you in the nose. The flavor is rather bitter with the malt being a side note. Some caramel and nuts in the flavor but mainly citrus. Palate is a little thin. Overall this was just ok.

Oh goodie more locals doing indian browns/black IPAs, NOT. Aroma contains some caramel and nuts with a hint of citrus. Aroma is rather faint though. The flavor is mostly bitter with the citrus and some caramel malts on the back end. Overall I’m sick of this trend but overall this beer is ok.

The appearance on this one was black with a beige head. The aroma contained some chocolate, coffee, lemons, and grapefruit. The citrus dominates the flavor more than the stout qualities so. Some orange and grapefruit and coffee in the background. Overall pretty good but I’m almost over the whole Black IPA fad.

This poured a pitch black color with a beige head. The aroma contains some chocolate, coffee, faint citrus, alcohol. The flavor is mainly chocolate and coffee. Some licorice is showing. The finish is bitter on this one. Overall this is about 90% stout, 10% IPA but I thought it was a nice beer.
