A dark reddish brown appearance with a moderate head and excellent lacing. The aroma is earthy with some oak and cherries. The flavor is a bit sweet with some caramel and dark fruit. I really cant taste the alcohol in this one which is a shock considering its 10.5%. This is not the most complex tasting barley wine Ive had, in fact the palate is a bit thin, but its pretty damn good especially for $3 a bomber. Give it a shot.

On tap at the brewery. A dark amber color with a moderate head. A good syrupy texture with some orange, oak, cherry, molasses in the flavor. A slightly bitter aftertaste. A warming effect from the alcohol. A nice barleywine.

A dark golden appearance. A hoppy citrus aroma. This seems to be similar Big Foot which is a good thing. I taste caramel, grapefruit, and cherries. The aftertaste is quite hoppy. Good beer!

My god this kicked some serious ass. An amber appearance with a thick head. The aroma is malty and alcohol filled with a nice citrus and pine presence. The flavor is similar to an IPA with some oak notes, orange, sherry, and caramel. Too bad this is retired.

An amber appearance. A caramel, coriander, and orange aroma. The flavor contains some oranges, caramel, pears, and nutmeg. The finish is somewhat alcoholic and sweet. Overall it was good.

2001 vintage sampled at Noog Fest III. A murky orange appearance. A citrus, vanilla bean, caramel, and alcohol aroma. This one was quite rich with some oaky flavors present. The flavor consisted of some dark fruit, cherries, and oranges. The finish was rather syrupy with a nice warming effect. This one was a very nice barleywine!

A copper colored beer with a white head. An orange, pine, vanilla, and alcohol filled aroma. The malt and hops balance out nicely in this one. Its sweet up front with some bitterness in the end. The flavor consists of pine, oranges, vanilla, and alcohol notes. Overall this was a very good one!

This one poured an amber color with a moderate head. A nice cherries, oak, orange, and raisin flavor present. Its a bit on the sweet side and the alcohol is rather well hidden. Overall it was very tasty but not bursting with complexity. Simple but good.

Being against the grain and a fan of the younger hoppy barleywines, I will say I really enjoyed this beer. Pours a deep amber color. A nice hoppy citrus and caramel aroma. The flavor was sweet as well as bitter with some molasses, citrus, and caramel. Thanks E for getting this from your cellar as Sassy attempted to taunt us for having one of her own.

A dark orange appearance with almost no head. The aroma is filled with citrus and has a yeasty scent. The flavor is caramel, apricots, oranges, and alcohol. A somewhat yeasty and dusty presence exists. The aftertaste is somewhat sour. A very well balanced and flavorful beer. And the last glass I will probably ever have, damnit.

A dark amber to brown appearance. The aroma is pine, mint, tobacco, and some alcohol. The flavor is quite sweet but the hop presence is definitley there. Some pine shows in the flavor along with strawberries, brandy, pine, and caramel. The aftertaste is syrupy and warming. This one is quite complex and BIG like most of the 3Floyds beers. I liked it.

Appearance is copper with some good lacing. Aroma is alcohol, oak, and citrus fruit. The flavor is excellent with some citrus, cherries, nuts, and hops. For those who like the hoppier barleywines like Bigfoot, this is for you.

The aroma is oak and some cherries. The apperance is copper colored with a nice lacing. The flavor is sharp citrus mainly grapefruit and orange with an alcohol warming effect. The aftertaste leaves an almost buttery coat. Good stuff.

Dark amber with a white head. Lots of caramel and toffee in the nose. Flavor is sweet with some nutty chocolate flavor going on. This is like a big brown ale. Aftertaste is all about sweet. Overall I dig it.

Alcohol nose primarily. The alcohol was letting itself be known in the flavor along with some dark cherries, hops, and syrup. A nice sipping beer on a cold night

A reddish orange apperance with a nice head. Like the Avery Hog Heaven, this is a hoppy take on the style. Flavor is grapefruit, oranges, dark malts, and alcohol. A very "Sierra" taste which is not a bad thing. I had the '04 version and Im sure this gets better with age. But its awesome right off the bat!

The aroma is very very nice. Some oak, citrus, cherries, grapes, vanilla. The appearance is a reddish brown with almost no head. Now to the flavor. A mix of bitter, sour, and sweet all perfectly blended together. Some caramel, raspberries, citrus fruit are primarly what I am tasting. The finish is hoppy with a taste of alcohol. This one is not as sweet and cloying as other barleywines Ive tasted. This biased may come from my hophead nature of course. But overall I must say I really enjoyed this one.

Orangish apperance. Taste was a mixture of sweet and sour. The alcohol was quite noticeable but the flavor was dominated by its sweetness. Some citrus and whiskey came through. Not one of the better barley wines out of the few I've had.

A dark orange to amber appearance. The aroma is more similar to a hopped up pale ale than your standard barleywine, some grapefruits and piney. An orange and grapefruit flavor with a definite hop presence and not much alcohol showing. Overall this is very good and well balanced. In the west coast mold for sure.

This was in KPs rating whore cooler. Awesome! A murky orange appearance. This tasted very similar to those orange-cicles I used to get as a kid. Very creamy and sweet. This one isnt too complex but it tastes really good.

This was an unusal take on a barley wine style. A dark orange appearance with little head. The aroma is citrus and pine similar to an IPA. The flavor was rather sweet with some grapefruit, caramel, and a piney presence. Despite the citrus in this it wasnt a hop fest either. Unlike any barleywine Ive ever had. Pretty good.

A brownish to black apperance. The aroma consists of figs, raisins, and chocolate. The flavor was very sweet with alot of dark fruit present and a burbon finish. Interesting stuff!

My first barley wine. Ive been wanting to try this style for a while. Appearance is reddish brown. Aroma is mainly alcohol with some grapes and vanilla present. Flavor is rich with a strong alcohol presence. Tastes of grapes, vanilla, and I can sense that oak in there. Palate is nice with an alcohol warming effect on your tounge. I could imagine this going rather well with a good cigar or a rich dessert. I like it!
