A dark brown appearance with a diminishing tan head. A chocolate, caramel, and milky aroma. The flavor is rather sweet with a big nutty presence. A rich milk chocolate and caramel taste. The aftertaste leaves a slight bitterness on the tounge. This is a damn fine brown.

A yellow appearance with a moderate head. A lemoney and peppery aroma. The flavor is somewhat sweet with a hint of hot spices present. Some candi sugar and lemons present. A little strange but not bad.

A dark orange to amber appearance. A perfume filled aroma mixed in with some grapefruits and oranges. This one is quite sweet with a decent alcohol burn on the tounge. Primarly oranges and grapefruit flavors show. Overall ok in small quanities but certainly not a session beer.

A copper color with a strong citrus and caramel aroma. The flavor caught me off guard and not what I was expecting in a barley wine. It was quite sour with a belgian like quality to it. Overall it was different but decent enough.

The aroma was much better than most malt liquor in other words it didnt make me gag. Some lemons and a hint of corn. A yellow appearance of course. The taste was somewhat sweet with more lemons showing. Not cloying nor did I get any fuselage. Top notch for such a crap style of beer.

An amber color with a moderate head. The aroma and flavor were both very complex. A malty caramel and dark fruit aroma. The flavor consisted of some molasses, raisins, cherries, caramel, and alcohol. Good stuff.

A murky orange appearance with no head. The aroma is very spiced filled complete with some Andies mint, ginger, and tobacco. Like sniffing a box of Newports or something. WTF. The flavor consists of mint, ginger, caramel, cinammon, and mint. Ho Ho Ho Merry freaking Christmas with all this mint and spice. Well I guess Santa has good a wad of snuff in his mouth because I taste tobacco as well. They are right Ive tasted nothing like it! Pass.

was psyched to see this. A black appearance with a beige head. The aroma is whiskey and coffee. Or smells like Jim Morrisons breakfast. The body is a little lighter than I expected. The bitter and sweet balance out fairly well with chocolate and coffee present. The whiskey is always making its presence known. Good one!

A murky brown appearance. The aroma consists of raisins, chocolate, and caramel. The flavor is molasses, grapes, brown sugar, with a slight alcohol burn. The finish is sweet. This was a good beer.

Too bad this one is retired because it was very good. A dark brown appearane with a lasting head. A nice chocolate and caramel aroma. The flavor consists of coffee, licorice, and chocolate. A rather dry and bitter beer. Very good for a porter.

This poured a rubyish brown color. The aroma is quite malty with some dark fruit, chocolate, and caramel. Some caramel and nutmeg flavors are present. The mouthfeel was rather thin. It was ok but rather one dimensional.

This was one interesting beer. A big raspberry aroma with some alcohol showing. The flavor is sweet and warming with raspberries and not much else going on. It was almost brandy like in character. The alcohol is not very noticeable. Too easy drinking for the 18% so I advise you dont play around with this stuff or you’ll be on the floor wetting yourself and mumbling about aliens taking over your brain.

I almost pissed myself when I saw this at KP’s gathering. Ok enough lame jokes onto the beer. A saaz hop and hay aroma. It poured a cloudy yellow appearance as you would expect. The flavor was very sweet with some lemons and more hay present. It had a perfume quality to it. Pretty good beer.

A dark reddish appearance. The aroma is complex with some molasses, orange, oak, and cherries. The flavor is primarly cherries with some raisins, grapes, oranges, and alcohol showing through. This one is more in the English mold. Excellent beer.

Vertical from 1996-2004. These 1998 and earlier are getting past thier prime. A dark brown appearance with little head. The spice has died and a yeasty funky flavor has taken over. Some chocolate and caramel flavors. In this year 2006 Id say stay out of the 1990s vintages.

Vertical from 1996-2004. This is the first year that doesnt taste old and a like a yeast bomb. The spices are very subdue but the malt is rocking on. This was more like a sweet stout. Not out of date just yet but sitting on it.

Vertical from 1996-2004. Ok now its getting better. For those who like the spices toned down grab this one. Just a hint of spice with the usual dark malt flavor. A nice mix of spice, caramel, chocolate. With this vintage Im beginning to detect the ginger, cinammon, and other spices. Not bad at all!

Vertical from 1996-2004. This was the winner hands down. Just enough time to tone down the spices and pine flavor. A perfect balance of chocolate, caramel, ginger, cinammon, and wheat flavor. I enjoyed this more than any others I sampled.
