Refreshing wheaty flavour, notes of yeast, grain, orange peel and coriander. Original rating, 3.0: Sample at Vecturamesse (Strag). Pale golden colour. Grainy / wheaty aroma and flavour. Not really impressive.

11.2 fl. oz. bottle, from Vinmonopolet. BB date 01.2014. ABV is 5%. Golden colour, only slightl hazy (some sediment remained in the bottle), moderate to low white head. Moderate aroma of coriander, nutmeg and orange peel. Fairly refreshing flavour, medium dry, wheaty with notes of coriander, nutmeg and some orange peel / citrus. Pleasant to drink - I have a somewhat fresher bottle too, but this one seemed to have kept well. Might buy again.

355 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 4.5%. Hazy pale yellow colour, low white head. Strong aroma of banana, bubblegum, cloves and coriander. Soft mouthfeel. The wheaty flavour is mid between dry and sweet, again with notes of banana, cloves and coriander, also some citrus. Minimal hops. Refreshing and nice to drink.

750 ml corked and waxed bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 5%. Slightly hazy pale golden colour, large white head. The aroma is distinctly spicy and rather yeasty, notes of coriander, hay and citrus. Fairly light bodied. The flavour is medium dry and refreshing with notes of coriander (less prominent citrus), short finish. A decent enough witbier - but is it that much better than other witbiers to make the higher price acceptable?

330 ml bottle, batch #1849, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 5.5%. Nearly clear pale golden colour, slightly hazy when the yeast is poured in the end, moderate to small white head. Moderate aroma of wheat, coriander seeds and chamomile, only a hint of orange peel. Thin body. Citric flavour, distinct notes of chamomile and orange peel, moderate coriander, minimal hops. Next time, skip the chamomile, and use more curacao orange peel and coriander seeds, please. A little more hops would not hurt.

330 ml paper wrapped bottle, from Edeka Sophienhof, Kiel. ABV is 5.6%. Slightly hazy pale golden colour, moderate white head. Aroma of spicy Belgian ale yeast, coriander and orange peel. Light bodied. Dry wheaty flavour, moderate notes of coriander and orange peel, minimal hops.

The flavour is wheaty and slightly on the sweet side, with the same elements as the aroma. A hint of banana. Very moderate hops.

300 ml bottle, from Bio Station Store, Antwerpen Centraal. Organic. ABV is 5.0%. Hazy straw colour, moderate white head. Unfresh aroma of malts and stale jam, a hint of coriander. The flavour is somewhat better and fresher than the aroma, notes of wheat, citrus peel and coriander. Moderate hops.

250 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. Also available in Norway at Vinmonopolet. ABV is 6%. This buckwheat (French: "sarrasin") beer is organic (Fr.: "biologique")., and has had a secondary fermentation in the bottle. Pale golden colour, hazy. Fluffy white head. Sweetish aroma, citrus, cloves, banana and tropical fruits, hints of aniseed candy. Spritzy mouthfeel, light bodied. Mild flavour, fairly dry, some citrus and peppery notes. Okay, but not worth the ridiculously high price in Norway.

On tap at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Hazy golden colour, moderate head, nice lacing. Pleasant aroma of coriander, citrus and Belgian witbier yeast. The flavour has notes of coriander and also cloves, and is distinctly citrussy throughout. A nice and refreshing witbier.

330 ml green stubby bottle, Strag stand at Smak 09. ABV in Norway is 4.7%. Pale golden colour, slightly hazy, low head. Citrussy / lemony aroma, notes of coriander too. Lemony flavour, notes of coriander, but lacks the rounded character of some other witbiers. Still a nice summer refreshment.

750 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet. ABV is 4.8%. Pale straw colour, slightly hazy, huge to moderate white head. Moderate wheaty and citrussy aroma, with notes of coriander and orange peel, also a hint of liquorice (when you know it should be there). The flavour is moderately citrussy, with moderate notes of coriander. The liquorice is barely discernible in the flavour. Light bodied, not very sweet, with minimal hops. "Empty" finish, but an otherwise nice and refreshing beer.

Typical lovely witbier aroma, notes of citrus and coriander, also notes of cloves and bananas. Very refreshing. The flavour is again typical witbier, coriander and citrus again, with noticeable hops in the finish. This is definitely a beer from Lervig that I will buy again!

250 ml bottle, as "Leireken Bio Witte Spelt / Epautre Blanche", now available in Norway (Vinmonopolet, bestillingsutvalget) - at an outrageous price. ABV is 5%. Made of organic ingredients. BB date end of 2007. Sediment in the bottle. Very pale and cloudy / milky straw coloured beer with a huge white head. Very nice wheaty, citrussy and spicy (cloves, coriander?) aroma. The flavour is distinctly spicy and wheaty with a quite rich mouthfeel, but also very refreshing. Spicy and hoppy bitter finish. An excellent beer in my book.

Bottle, at RBESG 2007 in Glasgow, Grand Tasting, as "Christophe Noyon Blanche de Wissant, Bière blanche". Very pale milky colour. Large and fluffy head. Strong wheaty aroma with coriander and orange peel. Wheaty flavour, some citrus and coriander, refreshing, nice.

33 cl bottle, courtesy of gunnfryd, who supplied it to our tasting. The ABV was 5.0%. Served at room temperature, which was too warm, and caused the beer to gush out of the bottle when opening. Hazy golden colour, moderate head. Surprisingly malty aroma, plenty of coriander. Moderately spicy flavour.

This spelt beer is organic (French: "biologique")., and has had a secondary fermentation in the bottle. Very pale blonde colour, hazy. Large and fluffy white head. Yeasty, spicy (cloves a.o.) and citrussy aroma, nice. Spritzy mouthfeel. The flavour is wheaty, fairly dry, notes of citrus and pepper. Not very different from their buckwheat beer "Sara". Joseph is a decent beer, but not worth the ridiculously high price in Norway.

Pours crystal clear pale yellow with a huge head. Slightly hazy when the yeast is poured in the end. Fresh and attractive aroma with notes of mild spices (coriander, cloves), hints of citrus. Light bodied (verging on "thin"). Mildly spicy flavour (coriander and cloves again), refreshing.

The flavour has moderate notes of coriander and cloves, but the usual witbier citric notes are not coming through as strongly as desired. Bland finish.

Stylish 750 ml bottle, shared with Tom at Øl & Mat-festivalen, Oslo. ABV 5.1%. Cloudy golden colour, moderate white head. Typical witbier aroma and flavour, notes of coriander and orange peel, hardly any noticeable hops. A hint of diacetyl is not what I want in a witbier. Drinkable, but lacks "bite". Boring.

Strong aroma of wheat ale yeast, notes of coriander and cloves, hints of citrus and banana. The flavour is wheaty and moderately yeasty, notes of coriander and cloves again, while the orange peel is very subdued. Noticeable but very moderate hops. Very refreshing.
