Aroma of brettanomyces / farmhouse kitchen, thyme, fruity hops and fruity yeast - and honey, of course. Moderately sweet & sour flavour, notes of brettanomyces and sour berries, moderate notes of thyme and honey. Low bitterness.

July 2020: 355 ml can, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger ABV is 6.3%. Hazy yellow colour, small white head of poor retention. Aroma of lactic acid and guava. Very sour flavour, loads of lactic acid (too much for me) and guava. One-dimensional. Not my cup of tea.

375 ml green bottle, batch #3, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 5.5%. Hazy ancient pink colour, no head. Aroma of lactic acid and lemons, only a hint of beetroot and absinthe. Flavour with the same elements, medium sour, but the beetroot and absinthe / wormwood are more distinct now. Moderate bitterness. Quite interesting.

Aroma of pine needles, apple cider, farmhouse, honey and oak. Very moderate carbonation, but not lifeless. Medium sour flavour of pine, honey, apple cider, brettanomyces, apple cider vinegar.

500 ml capped & corked bottle, as Wicked Weed Funkatorium Artistry Series III, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 5.5%. Slightly hazy golden colour, large to moderate white head. Aroma of lactic acid, farmhouse, oak, fennel, angelica root, dragonfruit and orange blossom. Sour flavour, notes of lactic acid and lemons, said ingredients are very subdued. A good sour ale, but hardly worth the high price in Norway.

On tap at Cardinal, Stavanger. Yellow colour, minimal head. Aroma and flavour of lactic acid, ginger and elderflowers. Fairly refreshing beer, but a bit too much lactic acid. .

April 2017: 750 ml green botlle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 8%. Barrel aged dark beer, aged for 1 year in a red wine foudre. Black colour, moderate tan head. Strong aroma of red wine, oak, brettanomyces, roast malts. Malty flavour, slight roast, chocolate, lactose, distinct notes of red wine, brettanomyces and oak. Moderate hops. Very good beer.

330 ml clear bottle, at Cardinal, Stavanger. ABV is 7.2%. Reddish brown colour, large to moderate off-white head. Aroma of vinegar, lactic acid, sour berries, lemons and caraway. Very acidic flavour, lactic acid and vinegar galore, also lemons, berries and caraway. The extreme acidity makes it undrinkable for me.

Shared bottle at Bryne tasting. Reddish colour, no head. Nice aroma of brettanomyces / farmhouse, red wine and oak. Moderately sour flavour with the same elements, quite nice.

The flavour has loads of lactic acid with a hint of salt, also distinct notes of rhubarb, vanilla and crumble. Hardly any bitterness.

Shared bottle, RBNAG 2011 in Oslo. Barrel aged 6 months, with currants added. Reddish brown colour. Intense farmhouse aroma, sour fruit, oak and spices. Sour flavour, good but not impressive.

500 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6%. Reddish brown colour, moderate off-white head. Pleasant aroma of red wine, red wine vinegar, oak and farmhouse. The flavour is indeed sour, but not extreme. Notes of malts, red wine vinegar and oak - but unfortunately with a bit too much malty sweetness for my taste. The aftertaste is fairly dry though.

On tap at HaandBryggeriet Beer Festival, Drammen. Brownish red (more than reddish brown) colour, moderate off-white head. Fruity, oaky and vinous aroma, slightly acidic. (According to the brewer, no grapes nor any other fruit has been added to the beer, but it has fermented and matured in oak barrels previously used for their grape-infused beers), The flavour is oaky, fruity and slightly acidic / vinegary, but lacks a hoppy counterpoint, and there is not much malty sweetness either.

At HaandBryggeriet Beer Festival, Drammen. Very dark brown colour, cloudy. No head nor carbonation. The aroma has notes of red wine, red wine vinegar and oak. The flavour has the same elements as the aroma, distinct acidity but not extreme. Quite tasty, but to be honest I’d probably prefer this as a salad dressing rather than a drinking beer.

375 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet Vika, brewed 2010. ABV is 8%. Cloudy dark red colour, pink head disappears completely after a minute. Strong and intense vinous aroma, notes of red wine vinegar, oak and farmhouse. The flavour is also vinous, tart and medium sour, oaky notes. Very moderate hops. Does not taste as strong as 8%, nor by my own buzz-o-meter.

Strong sourish & sweetish aroma with notes of plums, wine vinegar and peaches, also hints of horse stable, oak and farmhouse kitchen. Sweet & sour flavour, notes of peaches, vinegar and oak again. Minimal bitterness, dry finish. Not really my cup of tea.
