6951 | Dahls Jubileumsøl | Norway | Strong Lager | 2.7
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 5 330 ml bottle, at RBESG 2006. Strong "jubilee beer" from E.C. Dahls Bryggeri in Trondheim, now a Ringnes subsidiary. Golden colour. Strange sickly and moderately hoppy aroma. Flavour is mellow with a moderate maltiness, nothing spectacular. |

6953 | Budweiser Budvarceske Super Strong | Czech Republic | Strong Lager | 3.0
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 6 (330 ml bottle, fresh from Praha/Prague). Golden colour, moderate head. Initially weak aroma, some alcoholic sweet and flowery notes come along. Flavour is quite malty for a pale lager, rather alcoholic but not unpleasant, warming mouthfeel. Not too sweet. OKish, but not great. |

6954 | Hancock Beer | Denmark | Strong Lager | 3.4
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 Original short rating: Above average - well worth sampling. Rerate, in Denmark: Rich strong lager, golden colour, large bottle 70 cl is standard, correct ABV is 6.5%. I normally haven't the greatest affinity for Danish golden lagers, don't know why I like this one, but I do. Must mean that it's fairly well balanced? Goes nicely with a few Danish "håndmadder". |

6956 | Alhambra Reserva 1925 | Spain | Strong Lager | 3.3
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 6 330 ml green bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Crystal clear deep golden colour, big to moderate white head. Fairly nice and moderately sweetish aroma, notes of hops and spices. The flavour has a noticeable malty sweetness but also fairly decent hops, with some spicy notes. Hints of caramel. Better than I feared. |

6957 | Wiibroes Argangsol | Denmark | Strong Lager | 3.3
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 7 Wiibroe Årgangsøl (= "Vintage Beer") has (like all other Wiibroe beers) been brewed by Carlsberg in Copenhagen since 1998. They have had a tradition of brewing each vintage 0.1% stronger than the previous year, but the basic recipe seems to be the same. Sampled 330 ml bottle, vintage 2002, in Denmark. When brewers (in general) try to make a pilsener-style lager with more than 10% ABV, the result is normally disastrous. Not so in this case. Golden coloured beer. Pleasant aroma, alcohol presence in the flavour but fairly well balanced. Not a great beer, but not bad either. |

6960 | Bavaria 8.6 Gold | Netherlands | Strong Lager | 2.4
Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 500 ml can, from a minimarket in Funchal. ABV is 6.5%. Clear golden to orange colour, moderate white head. Sweetish aroma of malts, a hint of soap. The flavour is a bit on the sweet side, notes of malts, sugar and some alcohol, a slight fruitiness helps the drinkability. |

6961 | Bavaria 8.6 Special Blond Beer | Netherlands | Strong Lager | 2.8
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 March 2006: 650 ml very dark blueish green bottle, bought in France. ABV is 7.9%. Golden colour, large lasting head, decent lacing. Malty and fruity aroma with some alcoholic notes, but not unpleasant. Hints of oak and leather. Flavour is very sweet, but surprisingly it is not as repulsive as many other (often less sweet) golden strong lagers. Tolerable hops obviously contribute to a (nearly) acceptable balance. Moderate carbonation. I’ve had worse beers. |

6962 | San Miguel Red Horse Beer | Philippines | Strong Lager | 1.2
Aroma: 2 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 2 | Flavor: 2 | Overall: 2 Sample from bottle at Vectura-messe, as Red Horse Beer. ABV is 8%. Brewed for San Miguel in Hong Kong. Clear golden colour. Awful aroma. Bad flavour too, drainpour. The only reason to drink this is if you are an alcoholic living on the street in Hong Kong in a cardboard box. |

6963 | Aass Premium Pilsner | Norway | Strong Lager | 2.7
Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 500 ml can, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 6%. Crystal clear pale golden colour, large to moderate white head. Sweetish aroma of pilsener malts, alcohol and grassy hops. The flavour is not as sweet and alcoholic as I feared, more "neutral" with a herbal bitterness in the finish. |

6964 | Albani Giraf 10% | Denmark | Strong Lager | 1.8
Aroma: 3 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 3 | Flavor: 3 | Overall: 3 Sep. 2013: 500 ml can, from a 7-Eleven store in Copenhagen. ABV is 10%. Ingredients include glocose syrup and maize. Clear pale golden colour, large to moderate white head. Strong sweetish and sugary aroma of light syrup, grass and alcohol. Sweet and alcoholic flavour, sugary and unpleasant with some bittering hops in the finish. If I actually had finished the can, I would have considered rehab. |

6965 | Harboe Extra Strong 7.7% | Denmark | Strong Lager | 2.3
Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 500 ml can, as Harboe Extra Strong, from BilkaToGo, Skalborg. ABV is 7.7%. Golden colour, moderate white head. Sweetish aroma of malts and glucose syrup, some herbal hints. Medium sweet flavour (too sweet to be refreshing), notes of glucose syrup and alcohol, moderate herbal hops in the finish. |

6966 | De 5 Gaarde Didrik Luxusbryg | Denmark | Strong Lager | 3.1
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 April 2013: 500 ml bottle, from Superbrugsen, Denmark, ABV is 7.5%. Amber to brown colour, moderate white (or slightly off-white) head. Fairly strong aroma of caramel malts and brown bread, a hint of liquorice. The flavour is malty with plenty of caramel, some spicy hops in the finish, a hint of liquorice again. More hops would be desirable, but for a Harboe product this is not too bad. |

6967 | Sofiero Guld (Original 7.5%) | Sweden | Strong Lager | 2.3
Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 5 330 ml can, from Vinmonopolet Sola. ABV is 7.5%. Crystal clear golden colour, moderate white head. Sweetish aroma of malts, newmown grass and some alcohol. Slightly sweet flavour of malts and alcohol, moderate bittering hops in the finish. Not great, but I expected it not to be - at least it is cheap. As much bang for the bucks as you can get at Vinmonopolet - if you are desperate enough. |

6972 | Saint-Omer 1866 Bière d’Abbaye | France | Strong Lager | 2.9
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 6 500 ml can, from Carrefour, Cartagena, Spain. ABV is 6.2%. Deep golden colour, large white head. Strong sweetish and sugary aroma, some caramel, grassy hints. The flavour is fairly sweet, with some caramel, and the beer is not undrinkable - but it has very little to do with an "abbey beer", by any stretch of the mind. |

6975 | Carlsberg Crown | Denmark | Strong Lager | 2.7
Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 6 Bottle, bought in Denmark. "Danish malts, GLUCOSE SYRUP, Tasmanian hops" .... hmmm. Carlsberg’s attempt to make a beer with champagne-like qualities ... hmmm - I’m not a big fan of real champagne (price considered), but I’d definitely prefer real champagne for a celebration, if Carlsberg Crown were the best beer on offer. Fruity but not very strong aroma, bubbly/fizzy fruity flavour, not offensive but far from interesting. Alcohol is well hidden (behind what??). I am not a monarchist, but I think the happy couple deserved something better than this. |
