330 ml bottle, probably from Dagli’brugsen Skødstrup. ABV is 7.6%. Copper colour, large head with an orangey hue. The fairly strong aroma is fruity, mixed with distinct notes of caramel malts. The flavour is malty and rather sweet with plenty of caramel, the alcohol is noticeable. Bitter hops in the finish, becomes slightly metallic in the aftertaste.

Bottle, kindly shared by gunnar. Orange to amber colour, low off-white head. Extreme and intense aroma of American hops, on a background of sweet malts. Sweet flavour, too sweet maybe, the sweetness kind of overwhelms the intense hoppiness. Still, this is a top division beer.

1 pt. 6 fl. oz. bottle, as Port Brewing Shark Attack Double Red Ale, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 9.0%. Hazy reddish brown colour, moderate off-white head with an orangey hue. Lovely and complex aroma of fruity and piney American hops, on a sweetish background of crystal malts. The flavour is medium sweet with plenty of crystal malts, and loads of resinous and grapefruity hops. The bitterness in the finish is substantial, but not too extreme. Good stuff.

750 ml corked bottle, as Bøgedal No. 219, from Vinmonopolet Vika, shared with beerpals. ABV was 7.0%. Hops are Perle, Cascade and Celeia (not Centennial and Northern Brewer), so I really think the 219 ought to be listed as a separate beer. Hazy orange-brown colour, large and fluffy head. Fruity, hoppy and herbal aroma. Medium sweet flavour, balanced by distinct hops.

500 ml bottle, from BilkaToGo, Skalborg. ABV is 7.2%. Deep mahogany colour, moderate off-white head. Aroma of malts, brown bread and caramel. The flavour has the same elements, but is not too sweet. Notes of burnt breadcrumbs too. Noticeable bittering hops. Not bad, might well buy again.

330 ml can, as Pravda Putin Huylo (Dry-hopped Golden Ale), from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken, ABV is 8.0%, IBU 27. Moderately hazy golden colour, small white head. Moderate aroma of malts, yeast and piney hops. Distinct piney hops in the flavour, on a sufficient malt base. Some yeasty notes.

375 ml corked (plastic cork, nearly impossible to open) green bottle, bought from Vinmonopolet (Nettbutikken) May/June 2012. Bottled on 06.12.11, bottle No. 5665 of 7902 ABV is 11.8%. Beautiful reddish brown colour, low off-white head. Strong oxidised aroma of malts, oak and fusel alcohols, hints of dried figs. Minimal carbonation in the mouth. The flavour is very oaky and oxidised, not very sweet, with moderate hops. Not worth the high price.

355 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 11%, 25 IBU. Hazy and very dark reddish brown colour, moderate off-white to beige head. Aroma of malts, caramel, raisins and other dark dried fruits, bourbon, oak and vanilla. Rich and warming mouthfeel. The flavour has distinct notes of oak, brandy, bourbon whiskey, dark dried fruits, hints of mild spices, caramelized British orange marmalade and vanilla. A very fine beer!

355 ml bottle, will soon be available at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 7.8%, OG 1072, IBU 54.2. Red (or reddish brown) colour, moderate off-white head. Pleasant fruity (berries, dark dried fruits) and malty aroma with some caramel notes. The flavour is distinctly malty, again with some caramel notes, without being overly sweet. Fruity and resinous hops with a firm bitterness in the finish.

355 ml bottle, at a breakfast joint in Petaluma. Deep golden to orange colour, large off-white head. Aroma and flavour of citrus, pine, caramel and sweet malts. Maybe a bit too far out on the sweet side for me, but still a fairly nice beer. Some alcohol in the finish. Anyway, I wouldn’t say that it sucks.

355 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 9.5%. Brewed at Krebs Brewing Co. Slightly hazy orange colour, moderate white head. Aroma of coffee and malts, hints of fruity and piney hops. Rich mouthfeel. Flavour of coffee on a sufficient background of malts, also distinct piney hops, hints of bitter orange marmalade, fairly bitter finish and aftertaste.

750 ml corked and waxed bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.8%. Hazy deep golden to amber cour, large white head. Very interesting spicy and exotic aroma, notes of incense, does indeed fulfill the brewer’s intentions of bringing some the smells of the Middle East. Also notes of yeast. Interesting flavour too, complex spicy notes, fairly refreshing. The spiciness is never sharp nor burning. Intentionally lightly hopped to bring the spicy notes up front, but a little more hops would not hurt. The finish is too perfumed and "soapy", and ruins much of the pleasure for me.

Stoneware swingtop bottle, as Rogue XS Dead Guy Ale, from Costco, Sacramento. The ordinary Dead Guy Ale is not a favourite of mine, but this one is much better. Mahogany colour. The aroma is okay, but not outstanding. The flavour is excellent, malty and vinous with notes of toffee and caramel, also decent hops. Pleasant warming mouthfeel.

On tap at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Cloudy brown colour, creamy beige head. Lovely aroma of Australian hops, notes of tropical fruits and fir needles. Intense flavour of hops throughout, again with notes of tropical fruits and grapefruit, fir and pine needles and resin. There is a sufficient malty backbone, but not much sweetness. The bitterness is firm, but not too extreme. Jolly good.

355 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 9.6%, OG 1085, IBU 66.6. Beautiful amber to copper colour, moderate off-white head. Strong aroma of fruity American hops, old marmalade, caramel and crystal malts, alcohol. The flavour is very sweet, and the alcohol is not well hidden, but soon overpowered by a massive hoppy attack. Warming mouth- and throatfeel.Maybe too much of everything, but still a guilty pleasure to drink.

Shared 650 ml bottle, in Nevada City, October 2015. The bottle looked exactly the same as the picture, so I assume this must be the correct beer (12% ABV, brewed with honey, no mention of being brewed with coffee nor vanilla). Dark brown colour, fairly sweet and alcoholic, notes of honey, chocolate, bourbon, molasses and coffee in aroma and flavour. A fairly impressive beer, but still not as great as I hoped.

On tap at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Dark red color, nearly black. Moderate and creamy beige head. Hoppy aroma with notes of grapefruit, pine, herbs and spices, also notes of lightly roasted malts. The rich and medium dry flavour is malty first, immediately followed by piney, spicy and grapefruity hops. Ends in a nice bitterness.

375 ml corked & caged green bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 11.5%. Bottle No. 9861 out of 9987. Very dark brown colour, thin beige head. Aroma of malts, molasses, fusel, dark dried fruits and stale jam. Minimal carbonation in the mouth. Sweet and alcoholic flavour of molasses, dark dried fruits and oak, fairly bitter finish. Warming mouthfeel. Like most other BrewDog Abstrakt beers: Not worth the money. Won’t pay for any more of them myself.

On tap at Copenhagen Beer Festival 2013. Very dark brown to ruby colour, nearly black. Large beige head. Pleasant aroma of American hops, on a background of roasted malts with mild coffee notes. The flavour is also mildly roasty with a nice amount of fruity American hops, not extreme. Slightly warming mouthfeel, otherwise the alcohol is well hidden. Good stuff.

Aroma of malts and coffee, hints of chocolate and some fruity hops. Malty flavour with strong notes of coffee, a bit too much coffee for me. Some acidity, again hints of fruity hops.

May 2017: Shared 500 ml can at local tasting. ABV is 6.2%. Pale golden colour, white head. Very nice hoppy aroma, notes of fruits and spruce, also spicy and herbal hints. The flavour is a tad too sweet for my taste, but is well hopped throughout. Decent beer.

330 ml bottle, as Hancock Merry Christmas Happy New Year, vintage 2018, from Skjold Burne, Hjørring. ABV is 6.3%. Clear golden colour, moderate white head. Sweetish aroma of pilsener malts and carapilsener, also alcohol. The flavour is medium sweet with notes of malts, caramel and alcohol, moderate hops. Probably good with some rye bread and "sildemad", and a "snaps".
