On tap at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Hazy golden colour, large white head. Lovely and strong aroma of various tropical fruits, also fir trees. The flavour is distinctly hoppy throughout, with plenty of tropical fruits and pine needles, but the bitterness is hardly what an American would call "Imperial". Still a very enjoyable beer, clearly the "big brother" of Jaipur and Kipling.

500 ml bottle, will soon be available at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 10%. Pitch black colour, large brown head. Mildly roasty, nutty and malty aroma, hints of honey and chocolate. Smooth and rich flavour with loads of malty sweetness, but not cloying. Roasty notes / mild coffee, also notes of chocolate, honey and nuts. Decent hops in the finish and aftertaste, which also has faint notes of peat smoke. Excellent beer!

For once I pass on writing own comments, and choose simply to quote the brewery’s tasting notes, which seemed quite accurate to me: "The Thornbridge Sequoia American Amber Ale has beautiful citrus and pine notes that come from our generous additions of Amarillo, Centennial and Chinook hops. It is smooth and velvety in the mouth with the toasted malts giving it a medium body with hints of roasted hazelnut, toffee and caramel malt flavours. Sequoia, a beautiful beer for all occasions!"

(Now renamed Wild Raven.) On tap at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Very dark brown colour, nearly black. Creamy beige head. Nice aroma of fruity and piney hops, some roasty notes in the background. The flavour is also fruity and piney with plenty of hop character, with a dry roasty and medium bitter finish. Good stuff.

500 ml bottle, BB date 04.04.2014, from Vaaland, Bryne. ABV is 3.5%. Crystal clear and very pale yellow colour, large white head. Moderate but pleasant aroma of crushed gooseberries, herbs and citrus. Light bodied as expected, medium dry and crisp, with moderate notes of herbal hops.

Shared 330 ml bottle, 8% ABV. Deep golden colour. Strange aroma, fusel notes, hints of vanilla and oak. Flavour of peated whisky and smoke, mid between dry and sweet. Drinkable, but did not blow my socks off.

330 ml bottle, from the Norwegian importer. ABV is 8%. Black colour, low beige head. Moderate aroma of roast malts, smooth whisky, vanilla, mild coffee and chocolate. The roasty flavour is not too sweet, but has fairly distinct notes of smoke, whisky, vanilla, and coffee. Not bad at all, but my expectations were higher.

Pleasant aroma of Speyside whisky, notes of caramel, toffee, vanilla and berries, hints of rye bread. The flavour has some sweetness, but not too much. Distinct whisky notes, but still well balanced, with the same elements as in the aroma. Moderate hops.

500 ml bottle conditioned, from Gulating Ølutsalg, Stavanger. ABV is 4.5%. Very dark ruby colour, moderate beige head. Aroma of moderately roast malts, only hints of vanilla and orange peel. Slightly sourish flavour with moderately roast malts, slightly dry. Hints of orange peel, surprisingly little vanilla for a beer called "vanilla porter". Very moderate hops.

330 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 5.2%. Beautiful clear copper colour, moderate head, slightly off-white. Pleasant malty aroma, notes of caramel, fresh bread and pastry, hints of dark berries. Malty flavour too, some caramel but not too sweet, very moderate earthy hops. A true Scottish Ale. Will buy again.

Medium sweet flavour of malts, caramel, toffee, fudge, whisky, oak, raisins and vanilla, some very moderate hops in the finish.

500 ml clear bottle, as Belhaven Black Scottish Stout, from a potential importer. ABV is 4.2%. Very dark ruby to mahogany colour, moderate beige head. Weak aroma but not unpleasant, hints of fruit and weak coffee. Fizzy mouthfeel, light bodied. The medium dry flavour has mild roasty notes, mild coffee and grain. Again: not unpleasant, but too little of everything. The 7% Scottish Stout is far better.

500 ml clear bottle, from Voldby Købmandsgård. ABV is 6.5%. Drunk a bit too cold. Ruby colour, moderate off-white head. Nice malty aroma, notes of caramel and treacle, a hint of oak and mild spices. Malty and sweet flavour, low bitterness. Strong notes of caramel and treacle. Quite nice beer, if you want to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Cask half pint at the Dick Whittington, Gloucester. Brown colour, small beige head. Moderate malty aroma. Lovely sweet and malty flavour, with some caramel and a hint of roast malts and nuts, but also a nice fruitiness which makes the beer very drinkable. One of the best English brown ales I’ve had in a long time.

Cask, gravity dispense, at the Bree Louise, London. Chestnut colour, no head, minimal carbonation. Nice aroma of caramel and butterscotch. Flavour of toffee, caramel and butterscotch, but the beer is not very sweet. Hints of malt vinegar, without being sour.
